Can you recover from heroin overdose

If the breathing stops, their heart rate will initially increase as the heart struggles to pump the last bit of oxygen around the body.
I guess that explains how I went into cardiac arrest after overdosing on methadone plus other CNS depressants. I really didn't know how it was physically possible into now.

From a good friend that OD'd on fenanyl and xanax taught me a good lesson. I had to see him in a coma. I wept greatlly because i thought he was gone. An old friend of mine died from Kadian morph. Was sad to see his loss. At least my other friend recovered from the fentanyl. It is bad for these things to happen to good people. Rest in Peace all out there that had to go out like that. I just hope others are more cautious to not make the same mistakes as others. It is never good to lose someone close, especially when they have children left behind. Rest in peace for all those out there!<3

What you're describing is usually referred to in junkie slang as "falling out". It's happened to me a few times within the past months, and you usually just wake up and don't even realize it happened.

If it happens when you're with somebody I would recommend monitoring their breathing, making sure they don't choke on their spit (or puke). They will usually wake up within 30 minutes.

When I used to be a junkie we would always carry suboxone on us and a syringe close by in case anyone ever overdose hardcore (not breathing) . An IV injection of a very small dose can wake them up and save their lives .

Don't take this as medical advice, take it as personal experience.

I shot one bag of good east coast dope and OD'ed once. Well i don't know if it's considered a complete OD, but my lips turned blue, little to no pulse/breathing. My friend ran off and called an ambulance but luckily for me I just woke up...right as the paramedics were approaching my car. I tried to convince them that I just had a rough night and was sleeping :\ lol. I never got any help from them and luckily woke up. The next day my friend OD'd on 2 bags of the same dope....what a bunch of stupid junkies we were, if 1 bag got me idk what her less tolerant 115 lb ass thought she could handle twice as much. Luckily she woke up too, after she turned blue and mostly stopped breathing.

So yeah as everyone probably already said, paramedics/doctors can inject you with naloxone...or like in my case you might just wake up without any medical intervention. In my junkie experience 2 OD's I've witnessed got better without medical help, 1 OD needed the paddles to start his heart multiple times..idk why they didn't give him naloxone.

crush up some suboxone.. it has the naloxone in it and i've used it multiple times to bring someone out of it.
i've heard milk works but never tried it..

Don't inject someone with milk. It's one of the more dangerous overdose myths that goes around.

Using suboxone or subutex has some merit in certain cases, but it's the bupe that brings them back, not the naloxone.

I have been using for about 3 years now because of a severe car accident i was in awhile ago and have never od until today. atleast i think i was ODing except it was a little different then what everyone has been describing. what happened is i got a immediate cold flash right after shooting up. then instead of my heart rate slowing down it increased dramatically, i felt like i could feel the thumping of it in my ear which caused me to get a migraine. i did not have trouble breathing yet, so i just tried to stay warm in my bed and take deep breaths to make sure my pathway stayed open. then i started to get dizzy so i went to walk to go splash water on my face where i lost coordination. i proceeded to call a friend and she talked me through everything for about ten minutes but then i lost my vision and blacked out for about a minute. i woke up with a hot flash and lots of sweating. i decided to wait it out and lay down with a pack of ice around my neck and head.

i realize i probally should of called for medical help.

what i dont get is that most od's happen fast and you only have mybe two minutes. why did mine last so long? what was going on ?
