I once took some really old tramadol pills that expired 8 years ago (they were stored in their original bottle the whole time) and they made my stomach hurt alot, I know that old pills lose potency but can they do things like make your stomach hurt?
How so? I've seen threads with people taking decades old opioids before.... Sure tramodol is no prize, but if it were something better and more potent like say oxycodone, not taking it would be the crazy thing to do...Taking 8year old tramadol pills, your crazy.
8 years is a long time. You are lucky because it only hurt your stomach. The toxic effects may have triggered that.
Whatever humidity or temperature the pills may have been exposed to during all of these years would most definitely degenerate the chemicals.
It´s a long time. Some allergic reactions could also be expected and possible. Manufactures of medications always write about these reactions.
Besides they will only "secretly" guarantee the product for a period of 3 months after expiration.
I would not suspect about it if they were one year or so after expiration, but 8 years!?
I have read that the degradation product may have a pharmacological activity however it does create some toxic effects.
In most cases the degradation of the drug is not as toxic but in certain cases the toxicity upon going past its expiration date cause kidney damage.
I've heard this degradation happening with certain antibiotics. But with many drugs, they can last much longer. Depends on if they were stored in a cool, dry and dark environment.
You didn't say if you have ever taken tramadol before. I've had just about every bad side effect from tramadol and that's why I stay away from it.
