Ok So I Posted This Question in OD but figured it may be better suited here as There may be more Medical Professionals/eople with medical backrounds/training lurking in ADD.
So Here's My Question,I Recently had Surgery Where roughly a Foot of My intestine was removed due to disease, and Was fitted with a Temporary Colostomy Bag.if you dont know what that is,its where they sort of like re-route you're intestines,so you shit out of the side of you're stomach. So anyways,Where the poop Comes out is a Called a "Stoma".Its a soft pink mucousy little rose bud, which I think is basically the intestine Poking out. There Are Very Fine Veins and blood vessels very close to the "Skin" Surface of the stoma.I was Wondering,If I Sprinkled Say Morphine Powder on The Stoma,Would it absorb the drug, somewhat like insuffulation and plugging? It produces mucous and like i said has visible veins...Just wanted to know if it would work. Also another question I have that I hope someone might be able to answer is this;Even though I'm not "Connected" Per say in my intestines, and dont defecate through my anus,is it still possible for me to get effects from plugging drugs rectally? It Seemed To work,I Plugged 60 mg's of morphine and 40 mg's of Oxycontin and felt good,Though I had shot some and snorted a while before....I Tried Asking my doctor about the Rectal Dosing Question,Using Gravol as the drug in question, telling him I got Carsick and The Gravol Suppositiories worked much better then the oral tablets for me,but I didnt really get an answer, just a mumble and a subject change....
Any help and Responses would be Greatly Appreciated,Also if Any other BL'ers

I used to work in an operating theatre where they did colostomies frequently. One of the big post-op concerns was stoma care. I really wouldn't put anything on the mucosa of your stoma. Yes, it is a section of your intestine tunrned back on itself and stitched/attached to the surface of your abdomen. The mucosa are used to having funky stuff travelling past them, but the important issue is the healing between the surounding skin and your stoma. I wouldn't mess with it until all inflamation/soreness etc has disipated. So it's probably a case of happy plugging. Hope you don't have to use the bag for too long. Take care of it. At the op-dept, we were regularly getting people coming back for a refit due to the wound deteriorating.
All the best - Pipp (By the way, I could not describe myself as a medical professional, but I have a bit of knowledge from my time at the hosp.)

Thanks for the Replies Guys!Oh and Pipp,Yeah by recently I meant about 5-6 months ago,and I'm Completely healed,in fact I'm due to have the procedure reversed soon!,So do you think infection would still be an issue? The Skin around my Stoma is Fine,Apart from minor irritation from time to time from the glue and poop!

I feel for you and everything, OntarioGuy. I really do. Sounds like a tough situation you're in. But your gratuitously descriptive language... it's making me just a bit queezy. 8(

Sorry man,Sometimes I forget Just because I live with it on a day to day basis and it feels like i've had it forever!

Yeh...I wouldn't be putting anything on the stoma- you are risking infection/irrtation and all sorts of nastiness...if you had pharmaceutical grade stuff then maybe I would say, maybe, that it would be fine but even then you are risking inflammation etc...not worth it when you can plug.

I feel for you- best of luck and congrats on your soon to be reversed situation. Thats's a rough journey on many levels...I'm gonna return to the word- bushes

Why was this thread bumped?
The OPs overly descriptive wording is hilarious and slightly gross, but I can't stop reading.
