I want to try a stimulating anti depressant that doesnt affect serotonin as serotonin makes me feel girly and emasculated.

Wellbutrim isnt permitted in my country (UK) for depression (sucks as that sounded great, like a speed-lite 'cept for the worrying side efect of seizures) so reboxetine is pretty much my only option as far as i know.

Im not very optimistic tho because it seems to only affect adrenaline and from my experience with adrenaline boosters such as yohimbe and ephedrine they only produce a gritty nervous shit shit dirty buzz!

tho i have also read anecdotes it feels a little bit like amp with small warm rushes.

i know dopamine and adrenaline work together synergistically in amp but not sure i buy how much of a feelgood chemical adrenaline alone is.

1. Noradrenaline is *VERY* different from adrenaline.

2. Reboxetine doesn't work.

3. "Serotonin makes me feel girly and emasculated" Is a very silly thing to say that can't possibly be true.

4. SSRIs work by making the brain "bypass" serotonin response, so even if what you said about it being 'girly' was true, wouldn't SSRIs "man you up"? :p

Yeah, that damn girly serotonin. That's why I take a regimen of 4mg risperdal, and 20mg cyproheptadine, BID.
Keeps my man juices flowing!?

How so?

dont some ppl say that no anti depressants work? I agree theres loads of ppl who hate it, but theres also alot of ppl say its a bit like speed, for better or worse, speed was always my fav high so im curious how much of it was to do with noreadrenaline and how much to do with dopa. I tried mdpv and really liked that and thats supposed to be almost only dopa. but liek i said my expeirments with other nore stims like yohimbe and ephedrine have been orrible, just disgusting effects of stimulation rather than pleasant. But user reports seems 50/50 on it being pleasantly buzzed vs just plain dirty. actually the majority ive read say its dirty.

3. ye i was being silly a little; serotonin ive found is the best mood stabilizer i think ive had. using kanna i love the gentle effect and safety profile but it gave me annoying gummy mucous haivng to clear my throat all the time (this is the case with most drugs/intoxicants but some are tolerable and others not ime) the day after and i didnt like the trippy aspect of it within the 1st hour which is a shame. Is there any other instant serotonin booster that doesnt deplete your neuros (said that before someone said mdma- i once tried mdai and it gave the most horrific comedown! no more fucking with random RCs for me)? tianeptine is the only one ive read about seems awesoem tbh :P in terms of effects just what id be looking for something i could use acutely rather than every day but i still am hesitant due to all ssris being a question mark as to long term damage.

5htp gives me a horrible feeling of cotton wool in my sinuses and it is really hard for me to sleep and i have nightmares. It feels more like im 'bloated' with serotnin :P rather than it having positive effects within the brain.

1. They are completely different molecules with completely different effects.

2. Yeah, some antidepressant studies show that some antidepressants are only minimally better than placebo in *mildly* depresssed patients. (but it's worth noting, in mildly depressed patients, placebo does A LOT for their depression, so when we say "only a llittle better than placebo" we actually are saying "helped ~40% of people overcome mild depression) SSRIs always perform better than placebo in severely derpressed patients. Reboxetine performed WORSE than placebo in ALL categories.

3. The effect of SSRIs taken long term is TOTALLY different than the effect of acute Kanna use or 5HTP taken sometimes.

The reason SSRIs take 4-6 weeks to work is because that's how long it takes for your brain to start ignoring all serotonin activity. It's not the "boost" that makes you feel better - if that was the case SSRIs would work on day one. It's your brain getting REALLY BORED AND ANNOYED at the constant "boost" after a month that causes intense emotions (like depression) to go away.

regardng number 2 your just being americancentric since its only the fda who hated it, the uk did followup studies and we are no slouches in terms of scientific rigour :P and still found it better than placebo.

"The British MHRA said in September 2011 that the study had several limitations, and that "Overall the balance of benefits and risks for reboxetine remains positive in its authorised indication."[6] A UK and Europe-wide review of available efficacy and safety data has confirmed that reboxetine has benefit over placebo in its authorised indication. Efficacy was clearly shown in patients with severe or very severe depression.[6]"

We could keep cherry picking data back and forth but im not too bothered about it now as i dont intend to try it any more. Ive been finding that taking direct action to be the most effective and providing instant results, if only small, but incremental, small steps and all.

scratch that i feel like total shit agina. the tiniest thing hurls me into another pit of depresssion

my slef esteem is like glass.
