can anyone tell me what goa is?

Goa is actually a place, I believe an island in India. As far as the story goes (at least the one I was told), for some reason tons of electronic musicians and electronic music buffs migrated there a few years ago. Goa is the music that comes out of there, a trippy, complex, layered, sometimes hard sometimes not, trance. Or at least, that was what I gathered. What I would like to know, is what is the difference between Goa and Psy trance? Which is the one that's really close to ambient?

GOA is the more slowed down tempo, with beats not as fast as that of PSYCHEDELIC Trance. It goes more towards the ambient side of things due to alot of it being slower and more of that trippy stuff.
PSY on the other hand is more a faster up-tempoed beat, which GOA doesnt really have.
It is basically all the same, with *very* minor differences.
