So I'm miserable. My feet hurt, there numb, it's hard just to walk strait. My memory's horrible, I can't hold a thought and I'm worried I forget my own name. I was reading my blood results and I could list everything wrong but the main issue is my copper is at 8 it should be 85-160. So I had gastric bypass and for the last four years I've not been getting copper, my multi vit didn't have any. Now I'm taking 2multi vit a day but the copper effected my other blood tests, my iron is low, my blood counts bolth white and red are low. Calcium, protein, vit d, everything's caused by copper I think. Point is does anyone know it's a 8 on my copper serum is it as low as I think? I'm about to buy copper pills that would give me more copper with less pills. But it's there any faster way to get my blood back to normal. Any advise would be great. The last 7 days have got bad, I've only been taking the new vitamins for 3 days but I'm in now pain, I can't work out, it hurts all day now and my doctor doesn't know enough about copper and the doctor that does can't see me asap. I so I'm guessing on copper being the cause of everything but it does makes sense. What kind of doctor should I go see about this? I mean it seems like just taking two multi vitemins a day should fix everything right?

i can feel the pain in your post. i can't tell you if you should be worried, you do need to discuss with a doctor.

i will say, having tried to interpret my own medical test results in the past, i know how hard and confusing it is so would really recommend against you doing so in the future. its easy to fixate on something that would be an easy fix when you don't feel right, but it can be setting yourself up for disappointment. you have had major surgery so should be monitored by doctors- what have they said?

really hope you feel better soon.

My doctor has a 300$ price tag for a phone visit, it's extra high because I have not been to him in 15 years. I had my surgery 18 years ago I just forgot I should eat two multi vitamins a day. I'm just taking the required multi vit a day I should have been this entire time. Thing is I just think sometimes vitemins are not quality online. I wondered if the two multi vit a day will cover bringing my copper levels back to normal. Because in seriously feeling the effects from it. Im even relieved that my issues might be all fixed by just getting my blood tests to all normal. Including copper. What I wonder because I only tested my copper last month how long had it been low. See copper can lower your iron and my iron is low and my bloods low white blood counts low. But everything literly could be from copper. I just can't figure out if it being a 8 when it should be like 68 is at dramatic as it sounds. I mean if 0 is literly 0 copper then im worried at 8. Plus I feel this will be a slow recovery so I should speed my recovery up given the chance. There's liquid copper too. I also question how much copper will poison me so I don't do that.

how much are you spending on supplements that you don't know will work, and may even make things worse? $300 is painful and i wish so many people didn't have such barriers to getting medical treatment, but you need to see a doctor about your blood test results because we do not have the relevant qualifications or your medical history so can't do anything apart from speculate. for all we know you have a serious issue for which early intervention is crucial. see a doctor!

is there no other cheaper options to have a medical professional check out your test results?

Well. I see my pain doctor today in going to bring it back up for sure however her answer was to me this is a gastric bypass thing so she doesn't want to get involved with treating it. Also I had a bone marrow test done by a blood specialist and he calls me today for a zoom appointment so I can ask him also. Yea I just want to know that taking 200% my daily needs of copper will replenish my reserves back to normal levels. I mean two copper tests came back very low, a 8 and it should be like 60. My other tests is a 3 and should be like 50. Two different tests ones called copper serum ones called ceruloplasmin. But hopefully after today I'll get good news from my doctor's. I'll just update this when I'm all finished. In the mean time I can't wear socks right now because they're hurting my feet so bad. I just pray I'm right and when my blood tests are all normal again I'll feel like a new man. I really hope that's true. Thanks.

Seems to me if you haven’t been taking the 2 multi vitamins you require to keep your copper levels high that they have dropped as can be seen from your blood results.

You’ve answered your own question really, you’re now taking them and so that should increase your copper levels. You need to address your iron levels also though, anaemia is no joke. Make sure you mention that to your dr, you might need a short course of iron tablets.

As @chinup mentioned, we aren’t qualified and anything we say is speculation, I’m glad you’re in conversation with drs currently. Let us know how you get on!

I have to wait a month to see my bariatric doctor. My other two doctors I saw yesterday didn't offer me any good advise. Thogh my one doctor said i had psoriasis of the liver which I heard a couple years ago but i thought was solved when I quit drinking and doing drugs. Anyways this is common sense right, my copper tests two different tests show im super low on copper im near zero. Some of the important side effects are memory loss, and problems thinking, and weakness, pain, low blood count white and red... Among other things so here's the question again doesn't this make sense I should be taking copper? I should be taking a stand alone copper supplement. Again common sense right? Seriously bolth doctors said to go see my other doctor instead offering me any advise on the copper thing but it's so rare to have low copper and not to many people have weight loss surgery so it's not shocking to me they don't want to chime in however I'm really in a bad place from this. I can feel how different I feel, I can tell it's hard to remember things and to think clearly and I want to fix it super badly. So coppers low and everything related to symptoms of low copper are happening to me. So add copper all problems go away. Does anyone follow me?, I don't need advise so much as I need a double check of my plan of action and a "go ahead and take copper would help " thanks you

If you’re copper is low, take a copper supplement. Yes.

But it's there any faster way to get my blood back to normal.
I guess a copper injection would be the fastest way but I don't think you could buy that without a prescription.
From what I've read, oral supplementation should be the first line of treatment for copper deficiency, unless your case is particularly severe and/or if your symptoms (and copper levels) don't improve after a week or so.
This is because copper injections have an increased risk of toxicity since you're introducing a substantial amount of copper into your bloodstream at once.

If I were you I'd definitely start taking a supplement in the meantime, but I hope you'll be able to see your doctor soon so he can evaluate your situation properly!

Although I don't quite understand why the 2 doctors you saw didn't treat you if you're suffering from multiple deficiencies and are probably anemic as well. Who ordered the blood tests anyway? Maybe I'm missing something.
