Fire Season is upon us!!!!

:(

feels like it started early this year, usually it starts in september.
I hope this year isnt as bad as last year!

did you know these naturally occurring fires are actually beneficial to a lot of plant life? I think some varieties actually depend on wildfires for reproduction/germination. Humans have actaully caused an imbalance of fire-intolerant species in some areas by stopping them.

maybe we should stop building things on every spot possible. :p

here here! i'll drink to that.

It's going to be a crazy season i can already tell. This fire out in La Canada is pretty intense, you can see it from way out in the San Fernando Valley apparently which is a pretty far from La Canada

from my balcony this afternoon:

i used to think these blazes were mostly a southern california problem, but after all that's gone down in santa cruz i see we are just as vulnerable up here :(

Such a shame.. but damn happy its not in my backyard.. aka the grand pre fires were miles away from my house a number of years ago.

the first picture is the beginning of the smoke. Thats not cloud, thats smoke
In the second picture you can see that visibility has been impaired because of all the smoke.

30 houses burnt down in a fire about 25 minutes from my place earlier today. its mostly contained by now

mostly contained my ass!!!
i was just up at the top of the hills in the SFV and you could see the entire fire line. Its pretty damn big and it looked like it was going strong.

I helped a friend evacuate on Sunday in Acton and it was pretty intense. I have four fire fighter friends working the fire and they say that the Station Fire won't be out till mid september. Hopefully we will get some cooler weather soon.

I had to evacuate from my house during the Brea/91 freeway fires a while back. The flames were literally a few blocks away from my backyard. We didn't know if our house would be there the next morning when we returned. Luckily it was still standing, but completely covered in ash lol.

Whats up walks, how you doing buddy?
