My doctor moved with 2 weeks notice, and anyone in pain management knows that the time needed to find a new doctor is more than that. So now I'm going c/t...I am on page 2. I was originally having liver pain (no alcoholism, just chf), and now I have had a multi-car crash hit me (I was waiting at a stop light) so I have excruciating back pain. I take turns sitting up and lying down.

The worst is wanting to pee all the time (wtf?) and this is day 2. I am not sure I'm going to go back to drugs after seeing what the pain is like after I am clean. I know the sleeping is going to be the huge problem...

I forgot I have bad knees and the restless leg thing and no sleeping is making me so loopy, I don't know what to do.

How long have you been on oxycodone? Do you have chronic pain? You may want to look up buprenorphine providers in your area, either a doctor certified to prescribe it or a clinic that dispenses it. It's actually very effective for pain but because it's only a partial agonist opioid (unlike oxycodone, which is a full agonist) it will allow you to live a more normal life.

I've been on both buprenorphine and methadone and recommend bupe a lot. But usually only to heavy opiate users who may not stay clean in early recovery otherwise. But I think in your case, if you need to be on pain medication long term for legitimate pain then buprenorphine is the going to be the best option. But definitely exhaust all non narcotic treatment options first.

Also adding a second post with some options for immediate relief since I know you're suffering from full blown WD right now.

OTC/NON-PRESCRIPTION OPTIONS:
-You can purchase kratom from almost any headshop which has opiate properties and should alleviate most of the discomfort. If you can't find it, you can get lopermide OTC at any pharmacy but it's not as effective.
- For muscle ache, take Advil in combination with hot showers and a heating pad. Try to stretch and take small walks throughout the day.
- For sleep, you can try melatonin, Benadryl, or sleeping pills like Unisom (the ones with diphenhydramine seem to work best). If those don't work, you should be able to find kava kava or valerian root at Whole Foods or any health food store. Kava Kava is the stronger of the two.
- Make sure you're taking vitamins, drinking lots of fluids with electrolytes, and eating fruits and veggies. Exercise will help you sleep and exhaust you so you're not so restless.
- Potassium and heating pad directly on your legs can help with restless leg syndrome (RLS) as well as again, exercise.
- For chills, use blankets and the heating pad. But keep a bowl of ice water and a towel nearby so when you get hot you can kick off the blankets and put a cold cloth on your face.
- Going to AA/NA meetings can help distract you, kill time, and give you that extra support to keep you going.
- Find a TV show with multiple seasons you can watch ;)

PRESCRIPTION OPTIONS (or you can buy them off someone)
- BUPRENORPHINE. Either for a taper or maintenance. If you can get it, it's all you'll need.
- Benzos offer the most relief for cold turkey detox but be careful, they're also addictive.
- Muscle relaxers like Flexiral can really help with physical discomfort
- Seroquel XR only or Seroquel IR before bed in addition to Remeron for anxiety relief during the day

I know people who have used trazadone, tramadol, baclofen, gabapentin, and other medication but none of those worked for me.

Be smart, don't combine medications unless you know they're safe. If you don't know, ask.
