Friel reminded me a lot of my favorite writers such as Steinbeck or Chandler, in the way that he would take these flawed, broken characters and colour them with unexpected nobility. The world would become a better place if everyone were forced to go watch a Friel play. I'm sure many have never heard of him, but he was truly one of the greatest men. RIP *manly blubbering*
i should nip around to the library and get some to read as well, Friel's stories must live on!
