it's time for another cyclic, repetitive thread, those of u who's been here long enough know what im talking about ;)

how are u people finding the forum?

are u happy with it?

if not, why?

what's happening with social?

It's good but I just have one complaint... Where is the love?

Maybe it's just me but I notice that there's heaps of hostility at times and I think that takes away from what could be more productive and fun social chatter...

I think the mods and users should work together to change the culture of the forum so it's more warm and welcoming, rather than cold and cliquey.

A compliment, on the nazi-moderation side of things, I think loosening the reigns of power a little has been effective in allowing different topics to surface that may have otherwise been suppressed.

I must agree... but then again I dont think by saying that any contribution I have made had led to it being more boring. But then again if I had contributed more I dont think it would be any less boring.

There doesnt seem to be the same about of enthusiasm anymore.. lol I find myself living more and more in the lounge.

Maybe the absence of moderation in this forum has meant that there has been a lack of fight the power posts.

I dunno im bored and im doing a law assignment.

im used to my forums being all spammy and nice
with the occasional flame

This forum is a bit boring. There is a certain spice missing. I guess it's just like alot of communities out there though.. Once you hang around in the same place with the same people for a while, posting in the same boring old topics, it just gets a bit dull.

Also, alot of the threads just seem to end up being conversations between the forum regulars, people who already know each other from the forums or have been posting in here for a while. That's fair enough.. Just seems a bit cliquey IMO.

I also don't think that there are enough interesting or fun topics. Some of the topics go on for so many pages, and its just BLAHHhhhh... Just looking at the first page, alot of the topics have been around for several weeks already. There are a few new ones but they are not that great hehe :) I guess maybe I just don't have an interests in alot of the topics so that could be a big part of the problem!

I find that I'm hanging out in the Lounge or SLR, or in Life more than the Aus Social.. The other forums seem to have a bit more flow to them, and and just seem more inviting to everyone; newbies and greenlighters etc.. One can easily blend in there and be an instant part of the group. I guess some of the threads in the Lounge are a bit spammy, but a little spam is fun once in a while :D

I don't really have a problem with the moderation. I've yet to witness any extreme Nazi-like behaviour, and that Vurtomatic is kinda cute too! 8o

Okay, back to lurking in the shadows for me.. ;)

Well, anything gets boring if you sit there looking at the same thing for six hours a day. The answer is to mix it up. Check Bluelight every other day or at least try to rotate the forums you frequent.

And Vurt, man....c'mon, you've gotta put a lot more oooopmh into these sort of threads! Your first post was way too succinct. You needed to mix in some comparisons, postulate a somewhat controversial theory....then finish it off by specifically pointing out the best and worst of the forum. Name names and pull people up. Sort of a wheat and chaff thing.

ok so some of you are saying it's boring - can you say why it's boring. Don't forget you guys are what make the forum, if you feel it's boring why aren't you making threads that you consider fun? What do you think you can do to improve it?

Foxi and Cynakill have a great point - it is very cliquey and the threads are way too chatty between just a few select members and i can see how that can be off putting. It shouldn't happen, the guidelines have been written to stop that sort of thing happening as much as we can and we do try to put things back on track when they get like that.

Thing is, I see lots of complaints here and nobody's suggested or made an effort to try and cultivate the type of forum they wish to post in. We can't think for you.

Don't just post that you're not happy, tell us why you're not happy and what you think should be done to fix it.
 
Ok well every time i do say something i tend to get shot down for it so i thought i would just say what i thought...my apologies.

I personally like the cliquiness (even if i am not a part of it) i like to meet people who i talk to online and i think a forum is about getting to know one another aswell as sharing ideas so i like the friendliness of it all. So the chatting etc i like but maybe thats just me *shrugs*

The forum just seems to be getting a little stale lately and i feel like i have to be careful about what i say all the time...i do think about what i say and do not just post for the hell of it...i know that their is email and pms and chat programs for the banter but it's fun to be able to giggle with everyone as a group.

It just feels a little strict in here sometimes.

Thats just my opinion though :)
 
^^^ it's not just directed at you doofqueen, don't take it so personally, you're not the only one that has just said "boring" and not qualified it with a reason or suggestion for improvement. It's all too easy for people to say "it sucks" and then not elaborate further.

Every single person who reads and posts in this forum shapes the forum, when people don't post anything other than a sweeping statement and no suggestions or reasons it seems to us like they don't really have anything invested in how they would like it to be and therefore shouldn't complain... does that make sense?

Firstly, we need to have nezo BANNED !! Good for nothing jaded porn surfing trouble maker....;)

But seriously I think Social has been going fine and has been for quite awhile - it has its ups and downs and always has, just like anything in life.

As for the cliquiness - its always been there from the momment bluelight kicked in back in the day - it stands out more these days due to the sheer amount of users. But you know there is a simple way around it - skim past those post to the ones that might hold interest to you - and don't let the cliqinueness put you off and subsequently hold back your opnion. Just remember, alot of people read bluelight, not just those in their little groups - your opnion will get noticed and respected :)

As for stating what I think is wrong with bluelight - well I do that on a thread to thread basis - if i don't agree with something I say it, if I think someone should be accountable for what they have said then I state it. But as far as an overall issue - nothing :)

....did I mention that nezo needs to be banned? :p
 
yes. haste for mod! He professed to me one day his undying love of wipeing bluelight's ass.

I think everyone should take the whole 'fuck social is boring' less personally...mods and plebs alike...

ps - ban me. I dare ya.
 
If it wasn't highly frowned upon to fuck around with the settings, I'd change your title from "Bluelighter" to "Banned" without actually banning you.

So lets just pretend I did and we can all have a chuckle... :D
