A flicker in the dark, it grows and grows
Torment and sorrow, it brings to mind
Memories of pain that we can’t leave behind
But in the midst of darkness, a ray of hope
Like a Phoenix rising from ashes, it helps us cope
The pendulum swings, back and forth in time
The sands of time slip away, as we try to climb
Through the trials and tribulations of life
Love is the anchor, that keeps us from strife
It gives us strength, to face each new day
