SINGAPORE: A total of 208g of blue-coloured Ice was seized at the Woodlands Checkpoint on Friday (Oct 13).
The Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) and Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) said in a joint statement on Sunday that the drugs, estimated to be worth more than S$20,000 (RM62,530) were being transported in a Malaysia-registered car that arrived at the checkpoint at 8pm.
A 23-year-old Malaysian women was behind the wheel.
Upon further checks, an ICA officer discovered a bundle inside the rear passenger seat cup holder which contained the drugs.
In their statement, ICA and CNB said Singapore's borders are the first line of defence in safeguarding the country's security.
"The Home Team agencies will continue to conduct checks on passengers and vehicles at the checkpoints to prevent attempts to smuggle in undesirable persons, drugs, weapons, explosives and other contrabands," it added. - The Straits Times/Asia News Network
