I have never done that before, but I was having horrible anxiety due to the Adderall. I ran out of my Xanax early and when I got a new prescription they said it was too early to fill on Thursday. I had six .5 left, so I thought I would be okay, and I would have were it not for a freaking stimulant that obviously aggravates an already bad anxiety problem. (I have GAD.) So, I'm flipping out yesterday and I call up there to see when exactly I can pick it up because the lady up there Thursday said "over the weekend" and at the time I was not too concerned with it, so I never asked what day specifically. So, I call up and he says Tuesday. He says your insurance won't pay for it if you get it early. I'm like, fine...I'll pay for it. Xanax is cheap. Then he goes, "No...you can't do that." That's when I got pissed. Why even mention the insurance shit if you can't get it early because of the controlled substance issue. I am a brat I know it. When I want something, I want it NOW. But I have NEVER done that with a pharmacist. I have done it with a doctor though...lol. A psychiatrist that tried to cut my meds in half. But I never saw him again. So now...after telling the guy to fuck off and making myself look like a total drug addict asshole I can never go to that Rite Aid again. He yelled back. lol. I could not believe this even happened. After I said fuck off, he goes, "You know what..." And I hung up on him. I did call him back almost immediately to apologize. Partly because I really was sorry, but partly because I was scared he would call my doctor and cancel my prescription. I did see a few different doctors over the past couple weeks, but it was because I was in an outpatient group thing and then saw my regular psych doc. I was afraid he was gonna accuse me of doctor shopping.Anyway, this whole thing really woke me up to the fact that I better get off the Adderall because it makes me into a total asshole and makes me take more benzos than I need because I'm a nervous wreck!!

Call back and switch your prescription to another pharmacy. I used to get pretty irate with pharmacists especially when I needed my meds. Hope you feel better.

Telling people to fuck off is not going to get your prescription filled any time soon. You can give them your opinion and disagree with them without telling them to fuck off.

If you have been taking the xanax long enough to be physically dependant on it make sure you don't run out of it. Benzo withdrawals can be very dangerous and xanax is the worst commonly prescribed benzo to withdraw from from what ive seen people go through.

I always get my psych meds filled at the same place and since my pharmacist knows me he was even willing to give me enough clonazepam to get me through the weekend when i ran out and had trouble getting ahold of my shrink. Thankfully i finally got ahold of my psychiatrist and got all my scripts though. So yeah it can pay to know your pharmacist well because they might just help you out when you need your meds really bad :)

Would your doctor give you a early script? All they have to do is call the place and say you can get the script filled early and the pharmacist has to do it wheather they want to or not. The insurance does not have to pay for it though but xanax isint exactly expensive so thats not a problem in your case. Thats the way it works where i live but it might be different in the US. I know they can be alot more nazish over controlled drugs.

Giving up the adderall would be a good idea in my opinion because the last thing you want to do is make your anxiety even worse. Are you prescribed the adderall or do you just take it for fun? If you actually need it for a reason then maybe taking a lower dose or switching over to something thats smoother such as dextroamphetamine would be a good idea. Or atleast most people find it easier to take but it's more addictive if anything so remember that.

Some pharmacists used to give me trouble, I think part of it was I looked like a junky and I always had large scripts of many different drugs. I used to have 2 different doctors [psych and GP] giving me benzos I would always keep one of those at a different pharmacy just cause. After years upon years of filling those scripts I never would really run out unless something strange happened like I lost a bottle of pills [which happened a few times] but I think some of them might have taken an 'issue' with walking out with a bag filled with speed, opiates, sleepers, and benzos. Most were always nice and would ask me about my progress in getting clean, lol. Total joke.

That really sucks.

I've only ever had one problem with a pharmacist. I was prescribed Adderall by a doctor in Georgia (where I was living at the time) and of course I filled it. I then moved to South Carolina and decided to establish a new doctor right away. I told the doctor what meds I was taking and he wrote new prescriptions for Adderall, birth control, etc., all of which I decided to go ahead and fill because I needed the birth control and was about to run out of the Adderall, and I figured "Why not fill them all at the same time?"

I took the prescription notes in and left them there only to receive a phone call within an hour in which I was accused of doctor shopping. She flat out accused me of it. At first I tried to explain what had happened in a really respectful way but she became really rude. Eventually I too became really defensive and was like, "Um, don't you think that someone who doctor shops would do it all in the same fucking state? Wouldn't it not only be ludicrous but also totally inconvenient to go back and forth between two doctors that are more than 400 miles away from one another? Does this honestly sound like I'm freaking doctor shopping??? I don't think so!"

She was not pleased with my response even though my "excuse" was entirely logical and understandable (in my opinion as well as my parents' and original doctor's opinions). This pharmacist had the nerve to call up my new doctor in South Carolina as well as my old doc in Georgia and tell them I was definitely doctor shopping and she asked them if they wanted to do anything like report me to the police!!

The doctor in Georgia agreed with me that the whole situation was completely ridiculous, especially when he had known me for years. Unfortunately, however, the new doctor in South Carolina did not feel the same way and also accused me of doctor shopping. He had the gall to threaten legal action and explain to me that I could be in serious trouble as doctor shopping is a felony crime punishable by jail time! He said that he was going to let this one instance slide though, as if he was doing me some kind of favor. He also decided to refuse me as a patient altogether after this whole debacle.

Freaking douchebags.

^ That is ridiculous. And you had to go to an entirely new doctor after that... did you get your old doctor to call up the new one to explain things or anything?

I'm not sure if he did or not. I don't think it would have made a difference though as both the pharmacist and that new doctor were dead set on calling me a doctor shopper. They really made me feel like some kind of criminal... I have never, ever doctor shopped before so yeah, this was indeed completely ridiculous!

Reading this makes me really glad that I live in Costa Rica. I've never had any issues getting any filled here. Employees at pharmacies simply act like cashiers. It's no difference to them if I buy a candy bar, condoms, birth control, or something scheduled.

Well, he was nice about it when I called back. My Ambien was also on a wait list..though a shorter one. I got it yesterday and the Xanax today. I called to see if my Ambien was ready yesterday (NICELY) Lol. And I got the same guy...LOL. I was like damn...he goes, "It's ready." Didn't even ask my name. Remembered my voice I guess....I had my Mom get the Xanax today. I still could not face him. As for the poster that asked about the Xanax. I only just started on it as well as the Ambien, but since the group therapy doctor prescribed me a weeks worth and then my regular psych doc gave me 30 Ambien and 45 Xanax...it was too early. I am soooo scared of getting addicted to the Xanax. Been there done that with Benzos...but my anxiety, OCD and obsessive thinking was so bad I could not take it. So this is going to be the only month I take that and I'm quitting Adderall for a host of reasons. The shit is evil. I NEVER should have asked my doctor for it again. I'm also switching psych docs because this one will will give you ANYTHING you want in pretty much any dose you want and a bunch at one time. An addicts dream and an addicts nightmare all at once.

^ That's a great idea switching doctors if this one is facilitating your drug problems, a strong decision to make as well that maybe a lot of us couldn't do.

Adderall can most certainly cause someone with serious anxiety to go off the deep end..........I'm glad you are not going to take it anymore if it affects you that way. Plus, If he kindof just pretended it didn't happen on later phone calls, he probably could look at the fact you are on meds for anxiety, took a prescribed stimulant, and then had an anxiety attack....freaking out, etc. as an effect of the stimulant. Especially if you apologized and stuff. hopefully after it all blew over, he understood that you were having anxiety about your anxiety meds.

I use CVS most of the time.....if you use their online prescription website and you try to refill too early it won't let it through. But, the minute that you are allowed to do so (3 days early for my meds) it puts the thing through and then you go pick it up 2 hours later. Maybe Rite-Aid has something like this you could use?

I just wanted to add that I also had GAD, and have found that Xanax is the LEAST helpful. It lasts such a short time that you hit really bad spikes when taking it, and once it is gone withdrawal is ROUGH. One of the most anxious I have ever felt was after taking 1.5mg of xanax during a panic attack, and the next morning after it all wore off. The entire day I felt like I could have snapped on anyone, or broken into tears at the thought of anything. I'm sure if I took adderall I would have ended up in jail :P

If I was in your position, I would talk to a doctor about a different, longer acting benzo. Although I don't love clonazepam (especially not the "high" anymore), it helped my anxiety a looooot, and with many less spikes.
