Misc Blepharospasms (involuntary eye twitching), probably related to benzodiazepine use

Alright, I'm going to ask you here in OD this, then probably shift this over to ADD.

I'm wondering about people's experiences or knowledge of blepharospasms, particularly as they relate to benzo usage / withdrawal... I've been using a good bit of benzos (though not large amounts at a time; maybe 1mg alprazolam, 3mg phenazepam or 1.5mg etizolam at a time, usually once every two or three days) lately and have started to get a bad twitch in my right eye the past few days. It has been really bad since I woke up today, and it quite worrysome as I knew blepharospasms were a rare side effect of benzos, and etizolam in particular.

Anyone have any experience with this? It can apparently be from either withdrawal or prolonged usage... I have been rotating benzos lately between the three I mentioned above, and could possibly having w/d symptoms from etizolam as I haven't taken it as much recently.

Any advice or comments are greatly appreciated...

I'm glad to hear that yours went away...

I knew before I ever took etizolam that blepharospasms were a documented side effect, so it's safe to say that I was sickened yesterday when I made the connection as to what was going on. I can only hope it goes away soon, because it is already aggravating as hell and I can't imagine how much worse it could get.

What I'm not sure of still is how to proceed. It's a fucking impossible situation to try and figure out since both withdrawal and prolonged usage cause these. I really am scared to take any more benzos in case it makes it worse, but at the same time, lack of benzos may actually be the problem. (Yes, I know etizolam is not actually a benzo, but it acts on benzo receptors and so it is being lumped in here...)

I only had this as a side effect when I IV'd 100mg of MDA, and another experience where I took MDMA orally (at a 200mg dose). I also might have experienced this when I IM'd 2c-E as well but it was less pronounced.

Benzos have never had this effect for me but I haven't tried phenazepam or etizolam, nor do I take them frequently at all.

Good luck in figuring out why this is happening for you, if it gets worse or becomes debilitating I would go to the ER but I am sure you would already do that if it were to get that bad.
