Something I wrote tonight after listening to the classic Beatles toon (the bit in italics is their lyrics)

**********

the little speckled dots
black blood on violet skin
cracked and dry now
weather-kissed
this swollen flesh
that cold still heart
out in the leaves and the light
food for the worms
the birds
and the other creatures besides
none of this is feared
there is sadness for the passing
but that’s okay too
there are better places to be
there are better places to be
and the moon will still grow
thin then fat then gone
in loving celestial sympathy
the sky will still bleed
silent and voluminous
until that creeping shroud hides it all
the stars will still call
call for their son;

you were only waiting
for this moment to be free.

blackbird fly
blackbird fly
into the light
of the dark black night.

My bf constantly listens to this song

As if the Beatles only made one song

Very interesting choice to write from.

thin then fat then gone
confusing line; what do you mean by this?

silent and voluminous
until that creeping shroud hides it all
I like this part, especially the first line

isn't the second line supposed to be "until the creeping shroud hides it all"? just wondering :)

thanks for sharing

my BF listens to Blackbird way, way, way too much

to the point where I hate listening to it

really hate it

but your poem inspired by it, was very nice, and very heart felt. I'll try sharing it with him. But he's a fucking basket case of ADD and alcohol issues so who knows? maybe i'll get to tell him about this, and that's it, probably :|

Thanks, I am glad you liked it especially if you hate the actual song that much!

The thin then fat then gone bit is talking about the phases of the moon as a metaphor for growing up into your body and then eventually dying...and the second line was just some poetic licence, using that instead of the is to give it a unique identity (eg: that particular creeping shroud, not just any old shroud). It's not really something that works if you take it literally, I just like the lyricism of it :)
