Social Justice Black Lives Matter Discussion Thread

this is an important point i think but i disagree that it's all a bunch of hot gas
Yeah it isnt all hot gas, some of it is teargas and mace. 😄 But sure, shout a hundred things and there's bound to be something true to a percentage of it. Police brutality and (systemic) racism were some of their selling points, but it's kinda created more racism and questionable violent (police) actions instead, for now anyways, maybe it will lead to something lasting, probably not for years to come. But sure, I agree with a bunch of things that this talks about:

In hindsight priest was relaying information without providing the full picture, but he wasn't making claims, he was repeating something factual?

That he didn't feel the need to provide you with proof or that you didn't feel the need to look for said proof was just dragging this on. Similar with all the dismissive replies of the link I have posted, why pretend it's just nothing serious, because it's on twitter? The person we're talking about dragged blm into this himself, priest claimed he was a blm supporter (I think your whole qualm is with priest calling him a member), which given the evidence, would not be a weird assumption. You're just arguing semantics.

Why is it so hard to admit that this person probably supports blm? Why is it so hard to admit that people do horrible shit and then say blm thinking it will somehow vindicate their actions? Just go out and "protest" under the guise of black lives matter or antifa and loot and destroy property, throw bottles, professional fireworks or molotov cocktails at police, just commit animal cruelty, battery, homicide and scream black lives matter to prove your point, yeah it surely will lead to sympathy. That's not protesting anymore, that's a riot and the people that go to them day in day out are an angry mob easily swayed by mass hysteria. Thanks corona, you sure accelerated that.

I mean the shit these people spout at the protests is amazing, not sure if you've listened to some of them but it's appalling. Literally just heard some woman in Seattle riling up a whole crowd whining about people potentially getting shot if they start looting some specific place (????????), the owner apparently was going to protect it and not be sad about people getting shot in the process. Then she started telling everyone to go out and do something, that it was time for change, proceeding to go on asking everyone to only support black owned businesses. Ok then. Everyone in the crowd cheers it on like gospel, totally peaceful, but stupid, potentially dangerous if people go and confront that store owner. Because not everyone will leave after the marching and speaking has ended, a lot of those people stay to wreak havoc and show their disgruntlement with society, you see this in Portland, Rochester and LA every day now. Excusing looting and rioting because it somehow equals reparations, in defense of looting, great read (for shits and giggles).

I also see no reason to be concerned with something that does not affect you in any way, especially the foreigners dying to chippy chirp all about the subject.
Because it has been exported all throughout the western world? I don't know if you've seen Europe, Uk, Australia or Canada, but there's protests there too. You probably haven't, can't blame you, American people usually don't absorb all too much foreign media, just an observation. There's a blm movement overhere creating civil unrest, spraypainting statues, protesting against "white culture", trying to subvert people into radicalization with extreme statements and actions (successfully btw), it's not just privvy to the US, it's where it took root though. Oh no, foreigners, yeah, fucking foreigners everywhere, you xenophobe! 🤣

Just because it's on twitter doesn't mean it's not a credible source, if you've clicked it you would've seen that it outlines the whole situation pretty accurately. It's not like you can track all the violence on the anti defamation leagues website or see this kinda stuff on cnn, because hey, that's all leftist propaganda, so you get people making their own, they need to put it somewhere. 93% peaceful protests according to some study that just came out, it lists cnn as a source of all things, uhuh. I can see how they got to that number now, because I'm seeing different things on livestreams. Look for yourself on facebook, youtube or twitch, just search livestream protests/riots and enough results will turn up. Just saw 2 security officers being threatened with getting killed because they tried to keep a bunch of people shouting obscenities from tresspassing on the property they were supposed to guard where people were trying to eat. Luckily they retreated to de-escalate, the mob celebrated their victory, they would've probably celebrated their lynching too. That's all considered peaceful nowadays though.

Chrissy Teigen eats children btw, I also read this on twitter. It's true because twitter fact checks now. But seriously, it's just like any other platform, that's where that stuff priest mentioned got posted to before it got picked up by other media. Twitter is also a place where you can publically see shit like this for example:
RAM is a revolutionary anarchist/abolitionist organization fighting for a stateless, anti-capitalist & prison free world. Liberation begins where America dies.

Some international news in that timeline for everyone to watch, don't see that stuff on msnbc? Weird.

Blm is 7 years old, it has fed people propaganda for a while now. The line "I can't breathe" is just a glorifed slogan used as instructions to use when you encounter cops and get cuffed, it's the boy who cried wolf. Oh you can't breathe, is that political or real? I cannot tell, I'm gonna choke you longer to make sure it's not a political statement. How many times have those cops who kneeled on Floyd for over 8 mins heard that statement before to not respond to it? I've seen several videos that predated his death where people started saying I can't breathe when arrested, to bring attention to their injustice rather than not being able to really breathe. Not excusing the cops and their crimes at all, but blm took it and ran with it. It has burned its bridges, it's only detrimental to their own goals by now, people are either for or against blm, it's become left vs right, black vs white, evil vs good, which one is which? Thanks for the polarization. Thanks for giving actual white supremacists a reason to light torches again, thanks for reigniting interest in extremist militia and the kkk and whatnot, thanks, great service to your cause, just gave Trump back a whole bunch of voters, I can even understand why now. Martin Luther King would've been proud, or maybe not so much, he would've spoken out against the violence much louder than blm has.

Why are you in riot gear, I don't see no riot here, but then there are people shouting blm with full riotgear on, umbrellas, helmets and gasmasks, brandishing weapons, rioting. All cops are bastards, no justice no peace, fuck these racist ass police. Except the police hires people of any colour? There is justice with those cops in jail now, having to face, justice? Defund the police, no more money, but retrain everyone and give them bodycams, how does that all work exactly?

lol

Nahh I'm kinda over it, if you really want to eat a redpill, this is more meddling in elections from Putin and Xi Jinping. 🤫 People out protesting now in name of blm are crazy emotional communist spies that haven't done much of anything for the cause of equality, there's more segregration even with these only give money to black owned stores, media and whatnot mentalities. Reverse racism doesn't exist, it's either racism or it isn't.

It does make for some spectacular viewing material though, every damn day, closer and closer to a civil (race) war. Who needs a tv, netflix, amazon prime or whatever if you've got non-stop streams of this unfolding, it's amazing really.

White shield, white shield, allies to the front! 😂

It is annoying when right wing groups CAPITALIZE on the opportunity to turn an otherwise peaceful protest into something else.

I hope that's sarcasm.

Look at native americans and what has been done to us and do you see us burning cities down? Nope . Not saying we're always peaceful but we don't cause the destruction black people do in the guise of being fed up.
I also notice most blm supporters who are most vocal are middle aged white folk
There is NEVER a good reason to burn kill and steal from innocent people
They are acting like the savages

i ThINk corRect caPitaliztion mattErs too
sure, but there's a time and a place. in my case it's simply an aesthetic choice.

but it doesn't affect meaning... "you're a racist" and "You're a racist" mean the same thing, don't they? "you probably support blm" and "you're a member of blm" don't.

but you know this.

Just curious, who is black here in this discussion? They can answer questions white boy bob can't. I don't care for white guilt either or sjw's
Nothing worse than a white person telling me the native experience so a white person can't tell me the black experience

Don't forget about syphilis.

Define member of BLM (note capitalization) versus supporter of BLM. Define member of Antifa vs supporter of Antifa ISIS member vs supporter of ISIS.

Is there a formal selection and recruitment policy for members, the card carrying nomenklatura? Do they get discounts on gas and paint to make their hobby more affordable?

The whole BLM, Antifa, Patriot left wing, right wing polarizing nonsense dynamic looks like divide et impera, cui bono?

kinda making my point for me now...

priesttheycalledhim made the distinction so you'll have to ask him to define those terms...

if you need "member of antifa" defined, you'll have to call the white house :)

There's also a discrepancy between Black Lives Matter Foundation and The Black Lives Matter Movement. They are two separate entities, the foundation being one who donates money properly to inner city kids in need.

It's worth doing research if you care about the cause.

So you're suggesting that white people should not be able to advocate for the end of racism? What about myself, who has lived in the inner city for a decent portion of my life? Am I not allowed to share my experiences and what I've witnessed, and also the views and beliefs I've developed because of those experiences, simply because I'm white? Why should my views be dismissed on the matter? Isn't that the whole point of all of this, so we stop judging anyone based upon the color of their skin?

I didn't say that. Read it again. A white person can't tell my native experience with racism. They wouldn't know what affected my life race wise unless they read it or overheard it. They can't experience it. Just like I can't tell how a black person experiences racism . It's different for us all.
White people did the same with my people.act like they lived the injustices themselves or were more upset about things we were not
Wanting to hear from a black person in America on this topic is kinda obvious
Don't put words in my mouth

You can witness someone getting shot. You can't feel it or live with it

i think you're reading too much into what @Deru said, or you maybe misunderstand him. i don't think anybody here is trying to tell - or 'whitesplain' - racism to black people.

but you seem to be suggesting that a white person can't even see racism (against black people) and be opposed to it?

Don't put words in my mouth

Oh for sure, I don't think anyone here is trying to do that for Black people though in the context you mention here. I also was posing direct questions to you, I definitely wasn't putting words in your mouth :)

I can't directly feel it or give a first hand account of it, correct. But, I can use my ability to emphasize and learn from the individual who experienced it to understand it, though. Empathy is a powerful ability that we have, and I think that does help us greatly understand other's experiences. But, you're right, it can never replace actually living it and experiencing it.
