I have to replace all of my pituitary hormones due to a head injury which destroyed its function. The pituitary makes beta endorphin. I have confirmed total pituitary dysfunction. Something like naltrexone would do nothing for me. Without vicodin or some opiate I have no desire to get out of bed.

Could anyone extrapolate on possibly the best long term opiate replacement therapy for such a situation? I do not have experience in that realm and my endocrinologists do not seem to care.

B-endorphin is made by more than just the pituitary.

As for opioid replacement therapy, whatever works. But you'll probably have a hard time finding doctors that will prescribe you opioids the rest of your life.

Thanks. Could you tell me where else beta endorphin is made? Isn't the majority of it made in the pituitary?

Endorphin is also released by the hypothalamus. Also, endorphin is not the only opioid peptide - there are some that are derived from e.g. milk and bread, and are seen in the gut (e.g. caseomorphin)
