I'm wondering what you guys find most effective for waking up in the morning. This has always been a problem for me. I'm diagnosed with ADHD so I set my alarm clock about 30 min before I actually need to be up for. When the alarm clock wakes me up, I pop a dexy and fall back asleep - usually about 30-40 min later I wake up wide and alert on my own. I'm wondering if there's any other effective ideas out there? I haven't tried this method with a caffeine pill.

I don't think it's particularly healthy for you to rely on a dexamphetamine to get you up and moving in the morning. Have you tried using alarms, or natural light to help you wake?

I don't know your medical history, and you've already mentioned you suffer from ADHD so perhaps this would be a better question posed to your phychologist / psychiatrist?

I have a friend who bought an alarm clock with four huge metal sheets that slip under your mattress. When the alarm goes off, it shakes the bed like you're in the middle of an earthquake.

He still managed to sleep through it!

If you are aware your alarm has gone off, you are awake just get up and stay up do not go back to sleep, slowly adjust it so your not getting up before you have to , and go to sleep at a decent time.

Download this software to cut out the 'bluelight' http://stereopsis.com/flux/ when using a pc if you use one at night.

Blowjob and the scent of sizzling bacon is the best for for me.

That means I struggle most days...

:(

If you have a smartphone try an app like Sleeptime. Sets your alarm to your natural sleep cycles so wakes you up at the end of sleep cycles so you wake up feeling refreshed rather than groggy. It calculates your sleep cycles by using the phones accelerometer to track your movement during the night.

Put the alarm in a place so you have to get of bed, and jump in a shower as soon as you get up. Seems to work for me. Masturbating in the morning is a good way to wake up, too. I usually do this in the shower... just dont jizz down the drain or it blocks it, i usually do it into my hand and chuck it out the window.

wake up.
drink a glass of water, eat a bowl of cereal.
poop. shower. ablutions.
get dressed.

or

wake up.
get high.
go back to bed.

The thing about that software that I did not like, was that it appeared to be utilizing the Internet despite having the "automatically adjust to daylight hours" setting turned off. Was a bit unnerving and made me question what it was doing enough to uninstall it. :-/

A work around solution, because that software was very nice for the eyes, was to manually tweak the computer's display settings. Control Panel > Display > Calibrate Color. Took a bit of tweaking to get it just right, but now there isn't any annoying 'flash' of blue light while installing/running certain programs. ;)

I had to do that for awhile, though sometimes I would get up, walk across the room, turn it off, and go back to bed! Though that was mostly when I wasn't getting adequate quantity of sleep...

HYDRATE. 2 Tall glasses of water, or 1 glass of water + 1 cup of tea.
I second this notion. Upon waking, I down 12-24 ounces of water.

I've also found that switching to a less jarring alarm is a lot easier to wake up to. A "soft" tone on high works far better than the blaring alarm clock ever did. :)

I don't do well waking up in the morning, so I wake up in the afternoon. I work nights in order to accommodate this :)

Therefore you are not waking up on your own.

In order for me to get up effectively in the morning without grogginess, I need to get at least 7 hours sleep, have exercised that day, drank no alcohol that night and no caffeine past 1p. I can function and do well with alterations but it feels sub-optimal.

My alarm clock faces away from me and I have to get up out of bed to shut it off. There are no other lights on in the room.

I think I am so conditioned to my sleep routine that I don't have to set a clock but I don't trust that feeling.
I need to be on time for my job.

I LOVE sunshine to be the motivating factor to waking up and starting the day.

I use something similar called Relax Time (Android phone) and its great the nights my horse tablets don't knock me out.

Put your alarm on so it's not set to a radio station, if it's an alarm/radio type alarm, and put the clock far away so you have to actually get up to turn it off.

Drinking a glass of water, green tea, or a strong black tea will wake you up. I do this after washing my face and brushing my teeth and have the tea and water with breakfast. I used to drink 1-3 cups of strong coffee a day but now I've cut back and I drink 1-3 cups in a week. Drinking hot water with a twist of lemon or lime in it also works if you don't have tea or coffee or if you don't like them.

Also getting at least 7-8 hours of sleep helps, and so does opening up curtains or blinds so you can see the sun.

Get up and pour some water on yer head and your pillow. Aint nothin more annoying thatll make you not want to sleep.
