It's hard for me to decide but I think my favorite hip-hop producer of all time is either Rza, DJ Premier or Prince Paul. Both have produced some of the best hip-hop cds ever, and I can't really choose who I think is better.

Prince Paul produced Big Daddy Kane, 3rd Bass and De La Soul's best shit, but Rza was the producer for most of Wu-Tang's shit, including the solo cds and they co-produced Niggamortis by the Gravediggaz, which is one of my favorite cds. I don't even know where to start about Premier's shit, he's produced so much shit, but not that many full cds.

Rza's probably my favorite, followed by Prince Paul, then DJ Premier.

So who's do you think the best hip-hop producer ever is and why?

for the love of GAWD, please no one say Scott Storch.

To answer the OP: Madlib the Bad Kid and it's not even close.

I'm going to have to agree with Madlib ...

In fact, Madlib , MF Doom, and J Dilla are just incredible.
I know J Dilla is so overhyped, if you wanna call it that, but you can not argue he makes such awesome, organic sounding beats.

RZA. I don't know how there can be any debate about this, especially when you factor in quantity as well as quality.

LOL!!! Are you serious? Madlib releases more stuff in a month than RZA has in his entire lifetime. Not trying to knock RZA because he's got good material, but Madlib is in another world when it comes to making beats.

(I could go on, but you get the idea!!)

Beat Konducta Vol. 5 & 6 or his 1st Quasimoto album is a good place to start for anyone wanting more. :)

On a very commercial level i think Just Blaze is alright. Also Mannie Fresh for different reasons, dude produced 100s of songs 4 Cash Money back in the day some of them really good , but i, aint in 2 that stuff that much but Fresh definatrley deserves his Respect

He produced 6 Gang Starr albums?

My internet sucks and I lost a response that I typed out. This one won't be as good because I'm more stoned now.

Yeah, but other then his albums with Gang Starr he's only produced a few full albums, both Rza and Prince Paul have produced more full cds. Premier's produced way more individual songs though.

I like Madlib but I've never really gotten into Quasimoto because the voice kinda annoys me. Madvillain's the shit though, although I think I like some of MF DOOM's other stuff better.

Speaking of DOOM, Special Herbs and Spices is my favorite instrumental hip-hop ever. I've been really getting into it recently.

the best thing to ever come out of hip-hop were the beats!

so many to name:

blueprint
rjd2
classified
rza
k west
dj shadow
cut chemist
j-zone
apathy
esoteric
stoupe
9th/khrysis/illmind

arguing about it is dum tho

I though DJ Shadow's entrodoucing was an awesomely produced album.
So much so that I like that the most out of all hip hop influenced things.

Kanye - I don't think he's the best but he's one of the best. Others would be Dre, Premier, Large Pro. (more commercial but still) Diddy/Hitmen.

The Rza- the Rza's razor sharp
magic, some perfect music thats totally unique.
&
i always get into a Timberland beat-
knowingly or not.
(rick ruben is also a mixing board master, og)

i forget who now, but the producer of Atliens, is, outta this world...
