6 days ago I stopped taking my xanax caus I thought I could handle the WD's. I was taking 1,5 mg a day for like 4 months. I stopped using oxycodon at the same time, but those withdrawels are fading away thank god.

I have only slept like 10 hours at the most in those 6 days. Last night was horrible. Panic attacks. Electric shocks all over the body. Massive brain zaps. I decided that I couldnt cold turkey this because of insane withdrawels. I got a script to diazepam and took 30 mg this morning. The cramps stopped but I still get the electric shocks. Why wont it stop? It is scaring me to death and its 10 hours ago I took 30 mg of diazepam.

Why won't it stop?

and btw - I am never touching alprazolam again. DAMN! The withdrawels are much worse than opiate withdrawels - atleast for me.

I really hope someone can tell me why I still get the electric shocks. Is it because it takes some days in order to make the diazepam work?

I am very scared!

I hate benzoes so much :!

You stopped using benzos cold turkey, that is why you're having these symptoms. Quitting oxycodone at the same time is probably making it worse, I'm sorry to say :(

When you were scripted the diazepam, what instructions did the prescriber give you? Did you also inform them that you quit opiates as well?

Hope this helps, benzo WD is indeed hell. If you feel your health is in danger, it is best to seek medical attention, better safe than sorry with benzo WD.

Yea my doc knows everthing, but she is stupid as fuck and I know much more than her regarding benzoes and opiates. She is no help at all.

I just don't understand why it wont stop. Is it because of the lack of sleep?

It won't stop because your body needs benzodiazepines. Go to another doctor IMO, or a hospital if you must.

^Seconded. Benzo withdrawal is a serious matter, if your withdrawal is not being treated adequately, seek treatment from someone/somewhere else. Cold turkey withdrawal from that dosage/length of use of a benzodiazepine is not something that should happen, you should be slowly tapered down to reduce the WD symptoms as much as possible and prevent you from having a seizure.

I know how you feel man,I detoxed off about 4 milligrams a day or so of Xanax.did a quick taper down to 0 .5 mg's but it was still hell.plus I was on temazepam and clonazepam as well.I had the brain zaps for about a week, and was back to normal after about 2 weeks.I went to a detox unti in benzo w/d and Diazepam took away all my symptoms, maybe you just need a little more valium.if you make it until the symptoms are gone you'll feel like a new person, but Cold Turkey isn't the best way to kick benzos, tapering is a must.

Is my english bad? I took 30 mg diazepam today because the WD's was unbearable! But now I have shakes, anxiety and electric shocks.

I think its because of insanely lack of sleep, but im not sure. I am pretty scared!

Your English is good, no problem there.

You shouldn't be having the shakes and electric shocks. Anxiety and insomnia are common.

I agree with OntarioGuy, you probably need more diazepam.

How much did your doctor prescribe you to take?

And I relapsed on the oxycodone today too because I took the diazepam, but I will only use like twice per month from now on.

I need sleep but I am not tired at all.

The amount of diazepam you took was likely not sufficient for what your body is used to. This is why benzos are tapered so gradually, as anything more than a slight change can be catastrophic. Also, diazepam is a good bit different than alprazolam in effects; benzos don't completely substitute for each other.

She said I should control it myself. I have yet to find a good doc where I live. They are seriously retards. One doc even told me that benzo WD isnt dangerous at all and I just should relax untill the WD's are over.

I would never speak to that doctor again.

Don't worry about the oxycodone too much, in my opinion, you should only withdrawal from one drug at a time anyway.

How are you feeling now?

^I wholeheartedly agree that you shouldn't try to quit oxy now... I have been in the same spot with a dual addiction (clonazepam and oxycodone), and tapering both at the same time was hellish. It was much easier to do one at a time.

no need to be a smartass OP everyones trying to help. and I agree with ontarioguy and NT as well you need to take a little more diazepam. and you should not be getting shakes from stopping only 1.5 mgs after 4 months i stopped taking 15+ mgs at a time and never got them. see a doctor brother

I feel too much awake - even though I can't remember when I slept for real. My heart is racing and I am having severe anxiety. I think about going to bed now and sleep - but I am afraid I cant even though I'm on 30 mg diazepam and 100 mg oxycodone.

Should I go to sleep?

if you can go to sleep then yea definitely go to sleep. also I'm not sure why you're still taking oxycontin... how much do you normally take? 100 mgs, or more?

If you need to take more diazepam then take more diazepam and then sleep.

You will feel much better just from taking the diazepam you need, sleep will come naturally after that point.

Hope you feel better :)

at some point, the diazepam should take away the shakes/brainzap type of stuff you're talking about. maybe you need a bit more since it's been 6 days since you took any benzos or something like that, but ordinarily i would think 30 mg diaz would substitute adequately for 1.5mg xan. so, like everyone else said, if you're still having the benzo w/d symptoms, take a bit more diazepam. try to get some sleep.

well when I stopped suboxone and then it got so bad I needed to go back my normal dose didn't cut it, I needed more. Maybe its like that.

1.5 xanax is the same as 30mg valium

you need more IMO

I get the shocks when I do take valium and I am not dependent. During the consumptions and after. Maybe ur like me. They are not as bad as urs but ur in w/d so its different. It might be the natural causing of valium to give u the shocks and then thew/d on top of it.
