Been clean (opiates) for a long time. Now I might be fucked...

I'm taking suboxone every day, 8mg, and it's been doing the job. I've stayed entirely clean (for 1+ years), barring one week where I did hydromorph 2-3 times, to see if I could stop after. I could, and that was months ago.

But I was supposed to get my refill from the doc yesterday. Unfortunately, I have bronchitis right now, and I was coughing and puking all morning, and they're only open until noon. Now there's no doctor available until Tuesday. I'm fucked, basically. I already missed yesterday, and now, for the first time since I was using, I can feel the withdrawal creeping up on me.

I don't think I can make it to Tuesday, and I just want to cry now. So much work, and now this?

I'm thinking about going to emerge and asking for benzos. I know they can't prescribe suboxone here without a license, so that's not an option.

I just don't know what to do. After all this effort, I really don't want to relapse...

I know none of you can really help me, but if you've read this far, thank you. I truly appreciate whatever support you can offer...

You can do it man, you can tough it out I mean. I know it sucks but you've been doing so well. It's the addict in your mind talking right now. You're right, you have done a lot of good work thus far, and now you have a test. Regardless of the discomfort you're going to feel for a few days, it's better than falling back into old patterns, isn't it?

Feel free to PM me if you want to talk to someone. I recently got off opiates completely so I know how you feel.

Thanks, man. I may take you up on that.

The emergency room doc gave me 10mg diazepam tablets, 10 of them. Seems my tolerance to them is greatly diminished after nearly a year without them. 30mg has me feeling almost perfect. I am wondering now if a lot of my regular symptoms even while on suboxone are due to benzodiazepine PAWS... I mean, the last time I did them, I did 120 0.5mg alprazolam pills in a night, while drinking quite a bit. That kind of dosing has to have consequences for my GABA system.

All I can do is try. As long as I can sleep, I can make it. I hope...

If it gets too bad you can always go to a local/city methadone clinic for just a few days - though be careful with this because it will be annoying to switch back to suboxone from an emergency switch to methadone due to the long half-life, but it's an option. You'll be fine, there is always another option.

That - or - go to the suboxone website and look through the provider list, call and call and call until you get an answering service or live person in the office and tell the doctor about your emergency situation, see if you can get an emergency script for 5 days or something.

Suboxone is a schedule 3 drug. I'm prety sure these can be called in by the doctors. I would email your physician and explain what went down and make an apointmant, then I would call the pharmacy and request a refill. They will contact your doctor because of the request. Schedule three drugs can be given six month prescriptions I think, so I would also ask for this from your doctor. Many of them are riding the cash cow of suboxone so heavy they may say they want to see you every month, this is just likely a money making ploy from the charge for office visits.
