Hi All.

I have had bad depression and anxiety most of my life and I find a slightly higher then recomended (but responsible) dose of Baclofen (Baclofen GABA-B agonist) gives me 100% remission from my symptoms (Don't get much of an effect from it though unless I am taking my Anti-Depressant which is an irreversible MAOI). (My friends kind of like it to). The problem is I get a tolerance to it fairly quickly. Then get off the stuff (which is really hard) and try to go without it. (Psychiatrists regrets giving it to me and doesn't think I should take it on and off).

Just wondering if anyone else uses these substances for a mood disorder or general well being, which is their favorite, if they could recommend any other GABAnergics alone or in combination and do if they know if Baclofen, Pregabalin and Gabapentin would have a cross tolerance.

I am especially interested in Tiagabine if anyone has tried it? Probably less of a tolerance their.

Regards.

IME (and I have none with Tiagabine, which is more of a GABA reuptake inhibitor) is that gabapentin, pregabalin or baclofen will all cancel the withdrawal effects of one another. So for example if you're dependent on baclofen you can use gabapentin or pregabalin to remove withdrawal symptoms or vice versa. There is cross-tolerance between gabapentin and pregabalin but neither are cross-tolerant with baclofen. Of course this is all anecdotal but it makes sense from a pharmacological standpoint. Baclofen doesn't work via the same mechanism as gabapentin or pregabalin. The former is a GABA-B agonist whereas the latter 2 are voltage-gated calcium channel blockers.

I don't believe Tiagabine would be very useful.

Thanks heaps.
I have really bad Social anxiety and depression and found Baclofen gave me 100 % remission from both but due to tollerance I reached a max daily dose of 4 times the max human recomended. (It worked not just as an anxiolic but I found pleasure in things again i.e computer games / posting on blue light.) I got off it for a month but kind of decided life was not worth living without it and have been on & off it for the last 6 months or so and am kind of looking for more psychoactives to try and keep me going. (along with Parnate {MAOI} and a decent dose of slow release Methylphenidate & Phentermine}). Trying to cycle drugs as tollerance builds to stay good..... But I guess I would just get a tollerance to pregab and or gabapent.
I havn't heard much good stuff about tiagabine but thought it might go ok with the MAOI but........
cycling drugs as tollerance builds is a nver ending battle and I think I'm just gonna have to find other ways of tweaking my brain chems because it's like a never ending battle.
A couple of years ago I would have been very happy with an Irriversible MAOI and a slow release Dopamine reuptake inhibitor but I keep wanting more...
But I prolly just gonna have to go easy.

Unless anyone here has been successful in cycling different drugs all to avoid tolerances and stay golden?

Sorry about getting a bit emotional but I find "medicine" much more easier to deal with than humans & reality.

yeah i have used phenibut, gabapentin, lyrica and ghb to alleviate my dysthymia/anxiety issues..in most cases, tolerance builds quickly and other problems come to the surface..i did not notice any cross tolerance issues between gabapentin/lyrica and phenibut but did notice cross tolerant issues between phenibut and ghb...

gabapentin works great for 3 days then basically almost turns a complete 180 and the positive effects(heightened mood, libido, less anxiety) go and bad effects(terrible brain fog, sexual dysfunction, blurred vision) take their place..

i tried cycling gabapentin and phenibut along with etizolam..id use gabapentin for 2-3 days in a row, then switch to phenibut for 2-3 days, then to etizolam for a day and then repeat the cycle...the gabapentin stopped working though and i noticed extreme lethargy and brain fog started to occur..im not sure what caused this, whether it was withdrawals or effects from the drugs, i dont know..

Huh. Thanks mate. Over here all of those drugs are expensive, except Baclofen is covered under Australian Health care so it costs 6$ for 100 25mg tablets. Without a tolerance 75 mg's works wonders. (I think the max recommended is 100mg's) Once I get to around 450mg's a day I try n take a break (amazingly tollerance diminishes rapidly) 1 month and my tollerance is gone... its getting worse though.
I think it's a really interesting drug though. I find it kicks in after an hour, peaks at 3 hr's and half lifes around 5 hr's. But the crazy thing is I find the second and or third doses are twice as strong as the first. (Found this out the hard way with some random wacky OD's. i.e bad muscle spasm's, time speeds up super fast, kind of paralized for a short term with weird stuff happening then you realize you were dreaming in real time, woken up very short of breath.... In the emergency room one time.
So you gotta be a bit careful with it.

Yeah I have been experimenting with medicine most of my life. My Psychologist used to say "trust me their is no sch thing as a magic pill." And I would say. "Maybe not but there could be a coctail of pills you could cycle to make life a little more pleasant."
But havn't really found it yet. They say you cant get a tollerance to SSRI's but I think thats bullshit. The technical term may not be tollerance but everything stopps working after a while.

It's like god or the powers that be are like. "Oh you think you can go back to a garden of eden or even a bit more pleasant than it should be do ya. Well you can get fucked and suffer like everyone else. Adam decided to eat that apple and now all you cunts are gonna pay"

^^problem with ssris is they dont work well for many people..ive tried several of them and the side effects outweighed the few positives..

Yeah I found that. But when Effexor came out the first time I took it I felt Awesome for 4 months, then just side effects. The second time 3 months, and the tenth time... Yeah mostly just side effects. When their active they potentiate alcohol quite a bit though. And the girls like it cos you can stay hard all night.
