Ayahuasca (mimosa analogue) - First time - Sicky but right
Well after several years of psychedelic experimentation I finally tried what I found to be the best of the bunch.
Previous (psychedelic) experience: several 2C- types, mainly 2C-B, TMA-2 and 6, LSD, mescaline (as peruvian torch), mushrooms, salvia.
Dose : 10g mimosa & 4g syrian rue
I'd been saving myself up for ayahuasca for 6 months or more. I never seemed to have a clear run so kept putting it off until I finally finished uni for the year. My exams didn't go too well (though this assumption was subsequently proved wrong!). I'd tried peruvian torch cactus a few days earlier and felt up to the challenge that I thought I'd face.
We followed a MAOI friendly diet for a day and a half before the experience. Not being allowed cheese, marmite, beer and red wine was a minor inconvenience though at the time seemed a bit of an extreme step! On the day I ate a small breakfast and no lunch.
The brew was prepared separately, with 20g powdered mimosa hostilis being extracted 4 times into water acidified with a little vinegar. 8g of syrian rue powder was extracted likewise. Both solutions were reduced down and refrigerated overnight, the sediments being removed by filtration.
The rue extract was drank first. It was bitter and foul tasting but some milk helped it down. After 30mins a noticeable change in perception occured together with the beginnings of nausea. The mimosa extract was then drunk. This was very tannic and also pretty hard to drink.
The mimosa extract came on very fast. Within about 10 minutes we started to notice mushroom type visuals. These intensified quickly and the whole room started to become alive. A niggling nausea started to develop. The feeling was different to all other psychedelics I've done. After about an hour we were at the peak. The nausea was very intense - I wished I'd vomited earlier but I had an incredibly clear mind space and was working through problems I had as if I was holding them in my hands. I found juggling helped to calm my mind slightly and was also pretty good fun. I couldn't stop smiling despite the profound feeling I had.
After about 2 1/2 hrs the visuals and mind trip element started to recede. However we were both left with a buoyant mood which persisted for several days afterwards. The experience had allowed me to work through what I found to be petty problems and I approached life as I should've been doing for ages.
This is quite a short report and doesn't really do the stuff justice. It was quite mild but was was definitely different. The nausea was annoying and next time I may force myself to throw up if a similar thing happens. I'm also going to try a higher dose of mimosa - maybe using 12g or possibly 15..
