Ayahuasca (DMT/MAOI) and Keppra (Levetiracetam) contraindications?

Hi everyone, this is my first post so I'm hoping I put this in the right category.

Wondering if anyone can help shed some light on this:
  • Does anyone have experience with or knows if there are any known contraindications with taking Ayahuasca (DMT and MAOI) and Keppra (Levetiracetam)?

Background:
  • I have epilepsy and currently taking Keppra (it's the only medication I take)
  • The Ayahuasca will be made from:
    • Ayahuasca vine (B. Caapi): MAOI
    • Chacruna (P. viridis): N,N-DMT

I can't seem to find the answer on Google, doesn't seem to be a common search. As far as I know from my research I am not able to find any information about contraindications with Keppra + DMT or Keppra + MAOI. MAOI seems to have more serious contraindications to different medications so that's the one I think has more of a cause for concern.

Anyone have experience or have any idea about this?

Thanks!

Many people have described positive synergy between ampakines, such as levetiracetam, and psychedelics, so if you decide to go ahead with this you might want to be more conservative (than you would otherwise have been) with your dosing.

Drug combination questions like this belong in basic drug discussion, moving this over.

Epilepsy does predispose you to a higher risk of seizure on psychedelics, because these are drugs that increase recurrent electrical activity in the brain - which can lead to runaway activity like a seizure. Like Jonneh says, the racetams are known to potentiate psychedelics on their own in healthy people.

If you do decide to go through with this, have a sober sitter to care for you, and go easy on the dosage - don't push yourself too hard on your first try or it will get overwhelming.
