I am going to a well respected college in my area for "Aircraft Maintenance Engineering" starting in September. This career has a very decent wage, and many job opportunities in my area.
Eventually after learning my trade and finishing a four year apprenticeship, I plan to get into my country's air force for the same trade. Civilian training in the field is supposed to be more thorough and broadly based, so that seems like a good plan.
The idea of working on precision engines and mechanics of passenger planes, and then eventually fighters sounds really exciting. I'm good with my hands and would never survive a desk job.
Does anyone have experience in this field, or a related one?
Do civilian sector Aircraft Maintenance Engineers have the opportunity to make more cash than military?
