Me and my older brother are currently renting an apartment in North Carolina. The weather here isn't anything to complain about, but it's surley no paradise.

Our father was diagnosed with Stage 4 Lung Cancer in October 2010. At the time the "western-medicine" doctors deemed him inoperable and put a 6 months to a year time stamp on his life. I had recently graduated from Highschool and planned to attend a 4year state college, however in hopes to save my fathers health I took the year off. Pubmed became my best friend and a new passion for health ensued. He smoked pot occasionally up until this point, and sadly it was always schwagg which is notoriously known for being full of pesticides and chemical ferts. I bought him the Extreme Vape Q being that it was the most economical, forced air /w bag attachment, vaporizer- filling it with high quality indoor headies... This has become quite costly, but it's been worth every cent. I also put together a comprehensive meal plan for him, which cut out all the modified food ingredients he had previously been eating. Yet I believed those two steps would only prevent the cancer from spreading, and not directly "kill" the cancer that was currently plaguing him. I was determined to find an alternative to chemo, and thanks to public schooling I actually had a viable skill to do so. Research! I spent countless nights entering random tag's on Pubmed hoping to find the magic bullet. It took some time but i finally realized that the solution would be as intricate as the cause. His cancer wasn't caused by just one wrong doing, but instead an endless cocktail of toxins, mutagens, and immunosuppressants. Now my task became simpler, I had focus points to research instead of blindly searching through texts hoping to find an answer.
We used multiple detoxifiers such as Kanna, Garlic, and Tart Cherries. Along with anti-mutagenic herbs like Curcumin. And boosted his natural immune system by feeding it the "raw material" it needed to create Natural Killers; simple supplements like Vitamin C and Zinc were slowly, but naturally curing my father of cancer, and ultimately saving his life. As a side note for anyone currently battling cancer; we did decide to use pinpoint radio-therapy early in the diagnosis, and we did notice a sizable reduction in tumor size upon completion; but it also caused some nasty side effects such as hair loss and feeling ill during and two weeks after treatment. Thankfully his healthy diet and myriad of supplements allowed his hair to grow back, surprisingly thicker and darker!

Today I am happy to say that his cancer is in remission, WITHOUT the use of Chemo"therapy". The lung tumor shrank from the size of a softball to the size of a walnut. However the war is not yet won, in fact it may be years until he is 100% Cancer free. But it's no question that this is a war worth fighting!

The biggest setback has been affording and procuring the high quality Cannabis that is vital to my fathers recovery. There have been dry periods lasting up to a month where my father has been without his medicine, and each time we notice a large set back. He has no appetite and if he does force himself to eat it doesn't stay down very long. We've tried the appetite stimulants prescribed by his oncologist, but even those seem to cause him nausea. Not only that, but I have also had to deal with the archaic laws, and social stigmas surrounding this healing herb, and it's come to the point where we are willing to take drastic measures. He is prescribed marinol(100% pharmasuctical THC), but it is inneffective in treating cancer in the same way as cannabis. Nature combines hundreds of cannabinoids, most of which aren't psychoactive, that work in synergy to account for the medicinal properties of cannabis.

Side Note: My older brother has recently been through a divorce, and although tragic, it has allowed him the ability to take some of the load off of my shoulders. He too is ready for a change of scenery, and has joined us on our adventure.

So this is where I turn to my fellow bluelighters for advice. I want to be in a state that acknowledges the medicinal properties of cannabis. We're looking for a safe, economic, and cultural(this is key, as we have shared a nest with NC's closed minded cookie cutter families for too long) state to be the final chapter in my fathers epic battle with cancer.

My father spent a good portion of his life in the Sanfransico Bay area, and would prefer to be in a familiar setting. My only objection to that was the financial cost of living, it would place a large burden on my already exhausted shoulders, even with the help of my brother. I don't know if I could manage that stress along with a part time job, and pursuing my degree. We all agree that if we could make it work, California would be out preferred choice. Perhaps there is a hidden gem that is unknown to the various Realtor websites I've been scouring through. (A PM would ensure that it's secret would be kept safe ;)

Financing the move won't be a problem, as I have managed to save up a substantial starting capital that would allow minimum 3 months for us to get settled and find jobs.

Any state that recognizes Medical marijuana is a candidate. In a perfect world what was a friendly bluelighter offering his 1st hand knowledge would become our new neighbor.

Wow, SgtCuddles <3 I can't offer you any advice (I live in Australia), but I just want to give you a round of applause for what you're doing. The love you feel for your dad jumps out of the computer screen, and the way you're looking at his condition is really inspiring.

I've lost a ridiculous number of people i care for and love to cancer, many in the last year, so this post has really hit a nerve. I am so happy that your dad is in remission. :)

Has your father got a marijuana license? I really don't know anything about the legalities of it (again, not in the US), but there are many people on here who do... I'll defer to the H_L mods, but i'd like to leave this here for a spell to see what response you get, and then we could move it to Cannabis Discussion?

Cancer is indeed a nasty bitch to beat down.

As for trying to get medical marijuana, I can't offer any suggestions.

However, for the diet you've given him that has helped kick back the cancerous cells, may I ask what you've been feeding him? Maybe if you introduce more liquids to his diet (fresh blended fruit and veggie juices), he might not have to work as hard to intake the things that are helping him and, in turn, might lower your costs for the cannabis.
