I was recently in a detox unit because I voluntarily decided to come off of opiates. Excellent unit with just the right meds for a good transition. I had agreed with my psych that I was going to reduce my benzos and try to come off of them after 25 years on them. I hate the devils because the wd is so protracted and my anxiety so great that it is nearly impossible to get anything done for the first 4-5 months in a CT wd.

The unit uses depakote to prevent seizures because they would obviously not give me benzos while there. The problem I am having, days after discharge and while I was there, is constant, horrible headaches and that do not respond to anything otc. I am up all night in agony. They gave me a tapering dose but I am afraid to take any of them. It doesn't make the headaches go away like I thought it would. I am tapering on the benzos so the possibility of a seizure is minimal. Has any one experienced headaches from the use of Depakote and how long will they continue if I stop using it? I was only on the med for about 5 days.

I've taken. Depakote for several years as have friends of mine and they've always prevented migraines in me and those who get them i know so i doubt it was the depakote. Always possible.

Interesting. I suppose it could be the result of number of drug combinations that were given. I just cannot stand another sleepless night with no way controlling the headaches. I have far more sympathy for those who suffer migraines now. They must be completely debilitating.
