Anyone who has been through any kind of drug withdrawal like alcohol, opiates, benzos or whatever your drug of choice may be has probably experienced this annoying symptom that can last for quite some time depending on what drug you used. I'm talking about cold sweats, soaked sheets when trying to sleep etc. I've suffered this problem (and numerous others) since quitting gabapentin/benzos and opiates about half a year ago. I'm wondering if there is anything, besides of course taking your drug of choice, that can help relieve this symptom. I know weed helps, but I am all out of that at the moment. Is there any medication (that is not addictive) that could help with this? It doesn't bother me much during the day, but it really makes it difficult to sleep.

Answers are much appreciated.

Alcohol can make my goosebumps recede for two whole hours.... Catapress offers some relief .. especially in conjunction with methadone.

I have the exact same problem with my opiate withdrawal, the solution is 40mg of loperamine (Immodium), once every 5 days. There's actually a protocol on the dose and how to adjust it, but I don't remember the name of the person who designed it, so you may have to google that up. Once you dose, you'll feel the relief within minutes. Come next morning you should wake up almost normal.

Some recommend DXM and valium, I find DXM side effects to be too unpleasant, and not actually that helpful.

The only thing that can truly relieve MOR (mu-opioid receptor) agonist withdrawals are low doses of MOR agonists themselves, other drugs like benzos simply mask the wd symptoms without fixing the underlying cause.

Some drugs are rather strange, like Lyrica and Mirtazapine, as they actually remove WD symptoms, leading some of us to believe they might act on the mu-opioid receptor through an unexplained (for now, anyways) mechanism.

Alcohol/benzo withdrawal is neurotoxic, due to glutamate-induced excitotoxicity. To help relieve this neurotoxicity, you can take NMDA antagonists, such as chelated Magnesium (300-600mg), Zinc (30mg), and DXM (15-60mg).

Pregabalin and hydroxyzine helps solo fucking much with sleep and sweats. If not lyrica, then get gabapentin. I can assure gabapentin is one of the easiest scripts to get ever like really. It helps soo much.

This past week I ran out of suboxone and my pre authorization for gen bupretablets so I got sick after 72 hours of not having sub, sleep sucked, like got 3 hours of sleep, runny nose, cold sweats, and mind the weak before I had to take .5mg every other day from 1mg a day so I definitely had insufficient levels of bupre, but once I took lyrica and hydrozyzine I was able to sleep and most of the physical symptoms went away just had mental anxiety.,

Pregabalin and hydrozyzine is the savior r withdrawal it really is miracle drugs, loperamide works well too if you can't get pregabalin and hydroxyzine or you can't afford it, go with gabapentin, diphenhydramine which can be found OTC at local pharmacy, but neurontin requires a script. Get some kava and immodium if you can or try for s small dose of Benzo

i find guanfacine works best for sweats both from w/d sweats and methadone sweats which can come anytime ime. i find it works better than clonodine in respect to heart rate control as well(which can cause the sweating in the first place)at comparable doses.
