do you play?
just a fan?

what is your favorite team, favorite league? trash talk here! :)

personally, i have not played in over a year, but i'm still a fan. not a die-hard fan where my life revolves around it. i catch some women's national team games every now and then, just upgraded the cable so i get fox soccer channel. i've been really watching the premiership this year pretty closely, for the first time ever. european soccer is so much more exciting that american, unless i'm watching the women.

so....
i will play again soon....gotta let the daughter grow up a bit!
fan of US women's natl team and man u
look up to the great mia hamm and the (great) beautiful david beckham! (/swoons)

female here, and would especially love to hear from other chicks! :)

I don't really get much into teams/watching soccer, unless I'm around other people who do, and then I get VERY into it. A few years ago was traveling in Italy around the time of the world cup for example, and I was pretty crazy for it then.

I LOVE playing soccer (played it a bit in high school) and watching live games. It's a great sport. Excellent exercise, fast, fun and competitive (I get a little insane). I played left forward.

Being a typical young British lad I enjoy a bit of footie ;)

I support Newcastle, although they're not having the best season. I love to watch Engand play even though it's far too emotional. People treat football like a religion here, it's the biggest thing around and it's hard not to get caught up in it.

Personally, I prefer having a kick about to watching the match, but it's always fun getting boozed up and watching the match in the pub.

Newcastle v Grimsby tonight, C'mon the toon!

holy shit! i would've never, ever guessed that about you! i played left forward too, throughout my entire career. neat. :)

^^^
I didn't peg you as the athletic type either. :D That's awesome that you played the same position! It's a good one. :)

I generally enjoy playing most competitive sports, with the exception of american football, baseball, and soft ball, which I find incredibly boring.

Soccer is definitely my favourite team sport, both to play and watch, but I also love hockey (ice and street) and basketball.

When I played soccer one of my favourite things was muddy/rainy days. Getting totally filthy and sliding around and just NOT CARING because I was so involved the game.

never played, but its really not that big where I'm from.

have watched a few games on tv and I must say, intense! I can only imagine how much fun going to a live pro game would be.

lol, i'm the most un-girly person you will ever meet, with the exception of your stereotypical bull-dyke. (sorry, no offense to anyone i swear!)

we like a lot of the same sports, and dislike the same as well. my exceptions being golf (i like to play and watch) and i do not like basketball so much.

i would love to travel to europe just for a match. sure i'd get in some quality standard cultural time, but i have to go to a match before i die. none of this sittin in the pub shit, i need to be there!

so....
negative attempted to start a convo about premiership on the faux BL.

chelsea for a repeat?

i enjoy football but, now i've assimilated in my new home, i enjoy mlb and nfl more :)

when i visit home (edinburgh, scotland) i try to take in a game if i can. for my sins, i'm a hibs fan:

I'm getting more and more into football... I am a stupidly insane sports fan, I'll follow just about anything if I have easy access to it! Australia has just FINALLY started a decent, getting to be world class football league, so that is getting a lot of airtime over here at the moment.

I've started following Champions League and UEFA Cup as well... was obsessed with the World Cup Qualies... and am seriously hoping that we can get up over the dodgy Uruguayans to get the last berth!!

I'm starting to follow the premier league a bit more now... as an Aussie I have to go for the underdog, and especially the underdog that is whipping the shit at the moment!! GO WIGAN!!! Promoted from the Championship last year and currently sitting in equal 3rd after 9 games!! Woo!! None of this Liverpool or Man U for me... its Wigan all the way!!

CB :)

GO EARTHQUAKES! heh.

I make an honest effort to follow all the major professional leagues, and I definitely keep an eye on world cup with some hopes of being in Germany for it next summer.

As for international teams, I generally pull for England, the U.S., China, The Netherlands. On the professional side, I basically became an Arsenal fan because Berkamp played for them.

I haven't actually watched a soccer game for more than an hour, but I do like to check the MLS standings and see how the Columbus Crew are doing. I don't think they are doing very good though:(

first english club to win in europe... arsenal are never gunner win.

prayers go to the greatest ever, our george, the very best.

I grew up around a father who was a football nut. He watched absolutely every game that was televised. Good thing there was no sports cable channel back then where we lived. Coupled with his fanatic tales of "The Great Pelé", and his continued loyalty to team Brasil, his over-enthusiasm for the sport really turned me off it. I didn't start liking footbal until I was immersed into hockey, american footbal, and baseball here. Although I love to watch most sports during playoffs, football I can watch year round... and enjoy it. The TV coverage of the 2002 World Cup really tired me out with its time (zone) difference. Next year's Cup in Germany will hopefully be a bit easier to handle.

I used to play club soccer in high school, center mid. Regional championship team. The year before I got osgood slaughters. I hated this condition more than I've hated anything in my life. I probably would have gone to uni, all expenses paid on a soccer scholarship. Halfway through sophmore year I noticed my knee hurting like no other. Run a lot, extreme pain, slightly bumping it on anything, and I couldn't walk for the rest of the day. At the end of the spring season after being diagnosed with this stupid growth disorder I was cut from my team b/c I couldn't run well. I fell into a long depression and abused a lot of drugs for awhile. I watch soccer sometimes, but it still makes me depressed :( . It ended about a 1 1/2 years after it started, but I was too out of shape and it was too late for me to catch up. Maybe someday I can get over my past and enjoy the game as I once did.

^^ i'm sorry. that's really shitty. i, on the other hand, possibly could've actually done something had i NOT gone the drug-route DURING my career. i look back on that and it is a very big regret that i will never let myself forget.
