Anybody interested in doing a fast?

sure. I don't really care if you don't think fasting is good for you. I'm sure most people aren't motivated enough to find out for themselves if fasting is good for you or not. And, fasting might be proven medically to be "not good for you," but when I do it, I feel outstanding. I don't do it for weight loss or any of that shit. I do it to clear my mind, to develop self-discipline, etc... It is a challenge. Most people I know can't even stand not to eat for 6 hours. In the same way, I know most people don't dare step outside the bounds of their own little comfortable bubble for anything. Fasting has been practiced for thousands of years safely. I encourage you to try if you want to experience something new. If not, so be it.

I would but it would be detrimental to my goals. I have to eat 3.5k cals a day just to maintain.

oh, now the truth comes out... you're an ectomorph.

sorry bro. grass is always greener, right?

I think I'm a mesomorph if body types are actually something real. I weigh 270 lbs though. If I under eat by a few hundred cals I drop to 260's pretty fast.

I too find fasting beneficial to my health. What I lose in nutrients I make up for in insight and self-discipline. And I too have been cramming chocolates and candies in my mouth throughout the holiday season. Basically, I feel ya. I've never fasted longer than 36 hours, though. I'd love to join you, but not for 10 days. Let me know when you plan to begin and I will go with you for as long as I can. Say, 2 days?

sure. you do know, though, that once you get past 2 days, your hunger goes away? pretty much anything past 2 days is easier than the first 48 hours.

but yeah, sure, I'll let you know when I'm going to start.

I have had many good (and a few questionable) experiences with fasting.
Overall, I think it can be an incredible way to increase health. (WIth the emphasis on "can be", since some people do it in a dangerous way.)
Some people want scientific evidence, but personally, no scientific evidence (or lack thereof) weighs more heavily in my mind than my own experience.
I trust my own experience more than anything external, including double-blind studies.
I have fasted for 5 days, and felt amazing energy for weeks afterward.

However, that said, fasting in winter can be extra difficult, since I get so cold when I fast. Summer seems to make the most sense for me. So I won't be joining you.
Have a great experience, though!
Let us know how it works out.

do you guys go to work while fasting? My job (server and bartender) seems to consume a good amount of calories. I think I'd pass out or something..

this part stuck out to me

Most of us living in Western, industrialized nations are mixed types, with both overnutrition and undernutrition. We may take in excessive amounts of potentially toxic nutrients, such as fats and chemicals, and inadequate amounts of many essential vitamins and minerals. Juice fasting supplies some of these needed nutrients and allows the elimination of toxins. Excess mucus and clogging of the eliminative systems constitute the basic process of congestive diseases; deficiency problems result from poor nourishment or ineffective digestion/assimilation.

this seems like a cheaper and lengthier alternative to shorter detox treatments using juices and herbal tinctures, for people who are suffering systemic illnesses as a result of bad diet and not enough exercise. my question is... what kind of water are you using during the fast? mineral or distilled?

i'm really not interested in placing my body into a long-term "resting state" or losing pounds of muscle mass since i'm trying to build MORE muscle mass, but i am a proponent in maintaining on the lowest required caloric intake* so i would be interested in finding an effective means of combining short-term fasting with herbal medicine to allow the body to attack potential disease and foreign garbage without first going through this muscle-robbing ketosis phase.

from all the evidence i've seen, experienced and read about, a juice & tea fast seems like it could accomplish that without the negatives that are unavoidable with a water-only fast.

supposedly, a 30 day juice fast produces the same amount of healing as a 10 day water-fast.

You will also only be losing 1 pound of muscle mass on a 30 day juice fast. 1 pound of muscle mass seems like a small price to pay for the cleansing effects.

I'm also a pretty big supporter of restricted calorie diet. This doesn't mean I don't get all the vitamins and shit I need. I take a multi-vitamin, along with flax-seed oil, and make sure that I eat a balance diet of whole grains, vegetables, fruits, and dairy based proteins.

I can tell you that I feel infinity better eating 1200 calories a day of healthy food, than I do when I come home and have a plethora of processed shit at my finger tips. I feel sore, tired, and weighed down after 3 weeks of processed food. Sounds counter-intuitive, but eating less seems to give me more energy, improved my appearance, and makes me more happy.

Same here. I've gone through a few phases where I heed to when people tell me "eat constantly to gain weight." It's made me feel awful each time, and I never gained weight. Now I eat raw/vegan, which is much less bulk, and I'm still the same weight, but feel so energetic.
