im going to try xanax to increase my productivity, things are down to the wire, and I am stressing about a bunch of work that's due very soon, pretty much I need to be a machine for at least the next week, i will try low dose dex and low dose xanax when i start to panic. If any of you folks have any experience studying/working/producing on xanax I would be interested to hear feedback. I am concerned how long it will last, if there will be a rebound etc, i am not new to benzos, but I am fairly new to studying and trying to be productive on it. Any suggestions/advice? here goes

When you say "dex" you're referring to dextroamphetamine (Dexedrine/dexamphetamine/Dextrostat), right?

If so, that combination is excellent for being productive. As far as studying goes, you don't want to take too much Xanax (or any other benzo for that matter)...otherwise you'll forget all the things you were studying!

yes i am talking about the amphetamine, i am only thinking of taking .25 mg if needed, particularly i have (4) final essays to finish (and start), any other recommendations?

I don't know if Xanax is the best benzo for this situation... I mean, I'm sure you'll have a great time on that combo but I'd worry about the amnesiac (?) properties of Xanax. I'm on a very low dose- and I mean very low, like .25 mg, for anxiety/PTSD, and I'll notice myself having trouble recalling things - for that reason I usually try to take it at night.... Valium or Klonopin maybe?

You should be good as long as you don't take too much xanax, definitely a good combination for stress free studying/working.

I would take just enough amphetamines so that you don't require a benzodiazepine, which have a negative impact on cognition and memory, recall, etc. So if your studying all the time on benzos you might not remember what you studied come midterms or finals, just something to be aware of.

I am prescribed 90mg of dl-amphetamine's and 4mg of xanax and klonopin a day of which the benzo's I conserve and am tapering so I have plenty remaining when time to refill the benzos. Amphetamines and benzo's a great at ratio of 4:1 ratio of amphetamines to benzo's in strength with Ativan, Xanax and Klonopin. If you're not familiar try 15mg of your D-amphetamine and .25mg to .5mg 10 to 20 minutes after your d-amp dose.

As you can see I have made several typos that I am aware of but not going to correct for an example of what may happen when you just try to study on Benzo's.....

Zans make me fall asleep at work...i have to be doing something I actually like for zans to "work"...sitting in a chair all day staring at a screen +a stick = zzzZZzzzZz

Ya drop d xanax... give em 2 me hahaha

A low dose of xanax cant hurt u. If u need to relax and get stuff done. Try like 1 or 2mg at a time and space of ur doses
i always found they helped me a lot when I had to study|! Way less anxiety.

Hope either way all works out 4 u m8 k :)

like TC said, dextro-amphetamine is an excellent study aid, alprazolam (or any other benzo) is not. i'd save that for whatever anxiety or insomnia you may find yourself facing.

I'm really glad to find this thread,as I have a similar question, and wasn't sure about starting a new thread about it :?

I'm prescribed 4mg of xanax a day for panic disorder, but am also on 100mg amitriptyline a day for major depression, which makes me tired and lethargic and have no energy whatsoever.

Last night I was freaking out big time because I have a rental inspection in 3 weeks, and I'm too exhausted to do a big house clean (the house is a disaster zone, and needs a full spring clean to make it presentable).Actually most days I'm too lethargic and unmotivated to even do the dishes. I usually stay away from caffeine or energy drinks as they sometimes increase my anxiety, but I'd drunk some cola that night and was stressing big time,so I took all four xanaxes at once to calm down.

The weird thing is,instead of making me sleepy like I thought it would (I usually stick to 1mg xanax twice a day),I actually felt great, and was motivated enough to do a couple hours of cleaning!!

Is that a weird reaction? I'd like to try it again, maybe with an energy drink. Can someone recommend a good dose of caffeine to xanax ratio? And has anyone else had that reaction to caffeine and xanax?

Opinions would be hugely appreciated <3

Xanax and productivity are opposites of eachother. I would highly suggest you dont use any benzo's during times u want to be productive. It might feel and seem okay when working, but u will greatly distort your brains storage/memory creation functionality. Not only will u store far less information then without benzo's, You will also; become more sloppy, have a lower "standard of quality" for your work, waste allot of time trying to recall declarative memories that would otherwise be instant, and your writing/language skills will be greatly reduced.

No matter how you combine it, or how low of a dose you use, benzodiazepines are counter-productive.

Amfetamines on the other hand could help you studying/being productive. I would advise on using low amounts to avoid being distracted by "over-stimulation". And only dose in the morning and afternoon. Avoid dosing in the evening/working all night, as this will affect your sleep. You might be able to fall asleep, and think; whats the big deal?, but the quality of your sleep will be greatly reduced with amfetamines in your blood. Quality of sleep = quality of memory storage / learning. The worst thing you could do is staying up all night trying to finish your work. Skipping a night of sleep will be very counterproductive and will greatly diminish your learning experience.

Some more tips; Get your diet in check, eat atleast 5-6 meals each day, consume "good" fats, stay away from fast acting carbohydrates (sugar) and depend mainly on slow carbohydrates for your energy. It is best to start learning/working in the morning, and try to do the heaviest tasks first. If you HAVE to learn in the evening also, try to do the easier mental tasks during that time.

Try to avoid stress, good planning is what helps here. And remember; improving your sleep quality will improve your productivity!. (Using drugs to induce sleep will NOT increase your sleepquality).

Source; I have been experimenting with different supplements for studying since I started med school, (10years ago) and continue to do so today. (I started studying again) During my study and work I've always had a great interest in the most effective ways to learn/study.

Good luck!
