How do you cope? ive been consumed with anxiety and dealing with depression for the past month or so...

What do you reccommend? all these sites for treating anxiety want your money more than anything and its just annoying...

Anyone in here actually get past this? I quit using any type of drug (caffiene included) trying to get more involved with my life in general, and last night began trying to meditate.

Any help/suggestions/tips will be much appreciated.

Sorry to be such a debby-downer :( ive never dealt with this before and to say the least its quite scary.

It sounds cliche, but diet and especially exercise make a world of difference.

I have also found meditation to help me

Hope you start feeling better <3

have you the resources to attempt to find a competent psych-doc ?
many here among us look down on them for some really invalid reason.
the meds that they prescribe are really strong and have side effects that many do not experience but some patients get bashed by.

then of course is the potential meddy-go -round that searches for the jackpot drug or combination of drugs that gives one their life back.

after spending better than half a year of all day/everyday in the pits of severe depression and suicidal ideation i found a Pdoc that put his finger on the cause and within 24 hours the depression was all but gone.

in my case it was driven by an incompetent Pdoc's prescritions . the above mentioned Pdoc had me drop all the drugs that the quack had prescribed and use just one . I got better!

your emotional problems, severe as they are might be caused by situational or mental drivers and a good Pdoc can sort that our.

you are brilliant in that you stopped taking any drugs, really, really a good move. i hope that i do not run afoul of forum rules but i have two resources that helped me when i was in the pits of depression.

i won't post the links but crazyboards and crazymeds are easy to find on what ever search engine that you use. the first is support oriented . the second is all about meds and how ppl did or did not react to them .

i wish for your rapid recovery.

Hang on hang on, I don't think we need to start talking about meds just yet hobhead! There are plenty of other things to try before meds are looked in to.

CherryPoppinz, depression and anxiety can definitely be worked through. Don't bother with any of those websites that claim to cure anxiety, like you said they just want your money and are just scams.

Firstly I think you should take a look any recreational drug use you're doing. Stimulants in particular are reknown for causing depression and anxiety, you mentioned you've cut out caffiene which is great and very important. Are there any other drugs you're taking at all?

Secondly I really think you should consider talking to a close friend or family member about how you've been feeling. Bottling things up inside usually just makes us feel worse, and I think you might be surprised how much it can help by just talking to someone about what you're going through. If you don't have a loved one that you trust, you should consider speaking to a counsellor.

Also, as villian suggested, try to clean up your diet if possible, eat lots of fresh fruit and vegies every day, and drink plenty of water. A healthy body makes for a healthy mind. Exercise helps immensely as it releases endorphins in your brain which are like the "natural high", and helps to stabilise your moods naturally.

If you feel like you're really struggling and you can't even try any of these first-aid methods because you need help NOW, please go and see your doctor and explain the situation to them. They will then refer you on to a psych specialist who will take things from there.

Good luck, and let us know how you go <3

How dare you be a debby-downer! In The Dark Side of all places.. Don't be sorry, people usually don't end up here because everything is sunshine and rainbows. Your post is relatively light hearted in comparison to most of the posts you'll read here.

I've been dealing with anxiety for years, if you've only been dealing with it for a month you are in luck. It's possible that it's just some passing issue that won't become a chronic problem for you. It's great that you cut out caffeine, if you are doing any other drugs take a good look at why you use them and consider cutting them all out for now.

The above posts all have good advice, try not to rush to any conclusions yet and don't feel like you need to rush off to a psychiatrist just yet, try and eat well and exercise and see if there is any thing that is really stressing you out, or any situation in your life that is causing you extra trouble. Sometimes the answer can be as simple as removing yourself from a stressful situation or dealing with the stressful situation in a healthy way, not avoiding it.

If you do all this and still have trouble after another month or two then consider seeing a doctor, be wary of jumping on any anxiety meds unless you really need to. Learn as much as you can about anxiety, that for me always helped, the more you know what you're dealing with the better you'll be able to handle it.

Let us know how things go and please don't worry about being a debby downer!%)

Havnt been taking anything, I was on 5-htp for a couple of weeks and took some MDMA thinking it might help me see a more positive outlook i might have been missing out on (about 5 days ago) (that didnt really end up happening - at least not after the effects wore off)...

Ive been taking benadryl at night for the past few nights just to fall asleep because ive been so anxious its near impossible...

I do feel like its getting better, I was recently in uni and break has just started so I think the main "source" of my anxiety was just stress from school with a combination of drug use (adderall last week of tests alot, first time tripping acid, smoking lots of weed, drinking lots of alcohol), incessantly dealing with my roomate who is a VERY different person.
Im in a situation where i wont be seeing anyone in my immediate family for a couple more weeks so its hard to talk about my issues with anyone, and penting them up has been making me question my own sanity...the one thing im most scared about is having some serious mental illness like being schizo or some shit

Anyways, have been meditating and trying to eat alot more and although the meditation process is a little more difficult than i originally perceived i do believe its working to an extent...

I think once i get back with my family things will start looking up more hopefully, I just feel like im not the same person in a way (which im not in alot of ways) and although i always saw myself as a pessimist i feel now it might be to the extent where its affecting me negatively..(waking up and having "negative" thoughts, going to bed with a million things on my mind)
Im glad bluelight exists though :)

n3ophy7e i think yer becoming one of my favourite mods as what i feel like im gonna say tends to be what you say before i get the chance to do it,,your obviously very intellegent..
I agree with everything you said ,,
Try all others before heading to a shrink that will only perscribe meds ,,,and in saying that i will add that a shrink will probably have to try many meds to get the ones that would suite your situation, which could meen years as it ussualy takes about 3 months for a antidepressant to fully kick in so it would be trial and error...but good advice n3ophy7e.....i believe every time i read yer posts they seem to be bang on..keep up the good work...

Lol the reason I smoke weed 5 times a day Is to cope with painful depression.

I don't get anxiety though . Infact I get the total opposite , being that I just don't give a shite aboyt anything .

Dammn I wish notropics were easily available in Canada like they are in the US .

But yeah u should see a doc man , he could help you :)

Thanks man, I appreciate that :) <3

I find that getting out of my head really helps.

Try to help others, it makes you feel better and gets you out of that space between your ears

Weed tends to increase anxiety in those who are prone to it...

And instead of the MDMA, I would have recommended a medium dose of a psychedelic (preferably mushrooms...Golden Teachers specifically)...

But that said...I don't recommend that you do any sort of drug until you feel that the underlying source of these issues has been identified, if not resolved. Caffeine is a big culprit, and you were smart to cut that out. 5-HTP actually did nothing but increase my anxiety, so you may want to watch out for that one...

Also, you may be experiencing an increase in negative feelings given that you have recently cut out drugs which have a physical and mental addiction...(Caffeine, weed, etc)

Everyone else has been spot on in saying that diet and exercise are key factors...Eat right, drink plenty of water, and exercise daily and you will feel better, if only slightly...

Oh, and speaking from experience here, so YMMV, L-Theanine helps tremendously with anxiety (and depression by association lol)...As does Kava Kava, although that is more of a...drug...than a supplement

Hope you find a way to feel better!

I've found many releases from anxiety/depression/HPPD such as traveling, reading, watching movies, playing video games, cooking, etc. Find things besides drugs that interest you and do them. This will help you keep your mind off your mind.
