I'm interested in stories about Anti-Depressant medications that have 'saved' your life or improved the quality of your life.

Recently a work colleague of mine was in a dark place. Fucked, depressed. Couldn't get out of bed for weeks, couldn't eat, sleep, crying all the time etc... real bad

After 2 or 3 months on Zoloft working up to 100mg a day he is a completely new person. The change has been nothing short of remarkable.

Celexa in the morning + Remeron at night.

YMMV. In fact, your mileage will almost certainly vary. Antidepressants are tricky. Most people have to try several meds before they find one (or a combo) that works well.

Citalopram and fluoxetine produced both really good results but 75mg of velafaxin I cannot stand at all. I feel weird and disconnected from the outside world. But there are people who are on over 300mg of it daily and it seems to help these guys.

i'm having some success already a few weeks into taking effexor (venlafaxine)

anxiety and intrusive thoughts are a lot better, depression is improved a little bit, side effects were challenging the first week, but propranolol was good for the akathasia and anxiety .

i'm praying that in the coming weeks it will have a bigger impact on my depression and social phobia

Great if it's working and it will. I remember being on California rocket Fuel( Venlafaxine + Mirtazapine) only Mirtazapine was easy to just stop cause of weight gain.

Venlafaxine is also very unforgiving when miss the dose after 8 weeks sometime sooner...I was on it for 2-3 years..
I knew that a lot of them wouldn't work as my psych said at the time that I should drop them cause she said you are not depressed...you had maybe acute phazes when all that stress happened to you....
She helped me with giving me a Vigifinil(Modafinil) to ameliorate status in withdrawal. later she prescribed me Concerta cause those states stems from being in fatigue and ADD.

hey Sertraline(Zoloft) is SSRI and with Ecsitalopram and Venlafaxine is at the top from the report made by Journal of Psychiatry( I think that was global)! Case study

Venlafaxine has also push with noradrenaline but lower dopaminergic affinity( it's something like 30:1 in contrast to noradrenalin or serotonin ). But I speak from inbetween newbie and basics of pharmacology but I got here and I'm more self-aware now than ever in my life.

Also Effexor(Venlafaxine helps with neuralgia and neuropathy fybromiyalgia chronic fatigue but....only don't be affraid of antidepp withdrawal it looks like it will get hard but in 3 days I was like myself again( a bit of BRAIN ZAPPSS and RLS but not mentally only irritated) and I think they worked for me as I don't see path where I didn't take em.(paralel Universe BS).

Zoloft also has a bit of a push in the morning where I had the most difficult time I tried with one box only and I saw it's almost the same as Venlafaxine so when I felt good she said to me ok...now you drop all of them as you feel better and I also was on that page and I was acctualy better after 2-3 years.

Stimulants helped me but modafinil had very long half-life so it sorta after two months I started always get some rashes and my pee was like dark metal..

later I saw potential in Ketamine so whenever I wanted to leave benzos and bupe it helped me 80% leaving me 3 weeks later in great shape.

I take MDMA 3 times a year I even tried and I wrote here a small report on M&EDD taking it like micro-doses for a two weeks with hard supplements and NAC before and later- Nacetyl-Cysteine or mini doses 15-30mg 3 days, than break for couple days and again.

almost like I knew when to take it like that cause I had traumatic event that I needed to deal with which I neglected thus being crippled for daily activities and I did helped myself.

Those last two things are not recomended without specialist and MDMA is not antidepressant as it helps with PTSD which whcih also I think that
This is my take:
PTSD, ADD, depression always from 4 hospitals that I monitored for my (i don't know how you say the paper you do when finished with 4 years in college) not the PHD like before you become Engineer before Bollogne proces. You know what I mean..
they are cause for later developing OCD or depression that always has manic side which later become bipolar and there are couple fo them.

Then people take lamotrigine to level them-selves or Valproate....Jesus almost like we invented those 100 different states when we patent new drug well we must now invent a disorder that the drug heals.
That is cored in our humans being people with quality like comforting ourselves that we have this or that cause drug works and later we pay for that.

The antidepressants also have ugly side so if I or from my experience: take what you heard works best, or what you see on internet. thank GOD on WWW for that cause there is a lot of information and when you see people mentioning that California Rocketr Fuel is working better than Trazodone or Amislpiride or Quetiapine which are antipsychotics and here doctors still prescribe them for depression or insomnia.

Quetiapine is great in 25mg dose for insomnia but using it sparingly or when have a bad trip or in US you have meth so acute psychosis!

well there are now year and a half for magistrate and and after 3 or 4 years to phd. I'm 36 now and I hope with I will be a doctor. It is my wish and I think I can help as I love people now...I hated hem cause of being sales manager I still twitch when my mobile rings from those 7 years of stress. That is why I use laptop or desktop cmp for most of the time and mobile being for texting and calling..

Zoloft, Prozac(fluoxetine), Venlafaxine, escitalopram are what I think works from all SSNDRI

Mirtazapine is in a bit different category but it works for insomnia also dreams on it are frickin to Lucid I dreamt a butterfly that is me that have dreams of a butterfly and so on!
Weight gain is downside

I hated trazodone, all antipsychotics only use Pipamperone which is a mild one for insomnia.

The MAOi cannot be taken with a lot of stuff from food. so they are way less prescribed but still are.

Jesus Christ am smart today, i think I need to take something fro narcissistic behaviour so I will just go take some cubensis and kill that EGO.

til then....

Exactly the same experience and also with Zoloft. Been on 150mg/day for 14 years and it's still working.

A combo of prescribed dextro-Amphetamine and Mirtazepine. With selfmedicated Borneo Red Kratom powder. Was something keeping me on my feet during bad times.

Well, except Mirtazapine and amitriptiline, which both makes u fast, only vortioxetine worked And tramadol ( this almost killed me a few times, right Now i am in hospital due to dual bone fracture after epi seizure.

Nothing really dampens the depression significantly except for harder drugs, stimulants etc. But of all the ones I've tried (quite a number over 30+ years) duloxetine just about holds me above the water line, and without most of the side-effects of typical SSRIs. I also have a fair bit of pain, and it helps dial that down too.

No alway's slept fine on dex, but the appetite and weight gain of Mirtazepine was welcom. The weird dreams well they are part of the effect. They where neither weird or especially good, lucid.

Mirtazepine is excellent though for Kratom Opoid side effect's, very clean anti-histmainergic.

tramadol i all pseudo, it's a pseudo-opioid and pseudo-ssnri with seizure treshold somewhere 300-400mg,
I never had seizure from it but one time I mixed it with modafinil and the lowest dose like 75mg and I felt like something is pulling my head backwards so i layed till it passed.
But it has some dirty feeling like there is something lacking and it shuts down your stomach due to serotonin affinity.

Vortioxetine was my friend taking for six months and he said that it has like stomach feeling full side effect and burping all the time on it

Bupropion is a great antidepressant and mild stimulant, pro sexual effects
Amphetamines are great antidepressants
Methylphenidate (Ritalin) is a great antidepressant
Oxycodone & Mu-Opioid agonist are AMAZING antidepressant
Ketamine is successful for treatment resistant depression

Testosterone IM is an Amazing antidepressant/ mood-boosting effects
Tramadol (atypical Opioid Mu-agonist & SERT/NET reuptake inhibito)

SSRI’s are trash….but IF they work for you…GREAT.…but ur cock is dead or your flower doesn’t desire any bees honey lol

Sex is an AMAZING antidepressant
Physical cardiovascular exercise is an Amazing antidepressant…….elevated metabolites of Phenylethylamine (bodies natural Amphetamine) are present in urine samples after 30min of intense exercise

Alpha Methylated Phenylethylamines …. Amphetamines are AMAZING. Monoamine releasing agents, TAAR 1 agonist, VMAT 2 antagonist, MOAI properties

Oxycodone or Diamorphine (Heroin) + D-Amphetamine (Dexedrine) = AMAZING mood-boosting & antidepressant properties

Sex, exercise, social interactions, and Fckn SPEEDBALLS Ha ha ha Oxycodone & Ritalin/Dexedrine is the Ultimate Antidepressant. Period.

I tried snri's, tricyclics and wellbutrin. The tricyclics can help abit and so can wellbutrin. Snri's like ssri's are fucking trash.

I would honestly just recommend psychedelics or ketamine for depression. They work far better then any regular prescription antidepressants.

Bupropion, once prescribed (as try out) instead of Dextro-Amphetamine. Never had the anti-depressant effect of Dex on me. Not that I was depresessed but not relieving ADHD sypmtom's, did worse my situation, so I luckily could switch back.

Now Dextro-Amphetamine with Kratom. That's imo an excellent anti depressant, with addition off Mirtazepine low dose even better. I did have to take brakes with the Kratom to maintain these effect's. Using it as a kinda doping.

Ever considered a-non-selective MAOI, preferably tranilcypromine which maintains a very strong dopaminergic component. yes, you’ll have to cut out lots of drugs and many foods but it might just be worth it. it’s apparently very rare and difficult to get hold of, but from what I’ve heard it can be life changing.

Honestly and I'm not being tongue-in-cheek. I'm being dead serious:

MDMA

Yes, if you read some of my posts, you'll know that I was a prolific consumer of MDMA and other research chemicals well over 500 pills, however, would I frequently do not talk about is how I never suffered from any of the suicide Mondays or Tuesdays. In fact, i always had an afterglow.

During the periods of my life when I used MDMA regularly, I did not drink alcohol or use any other drugs except for complementary party drugs and sometimes some psychedelics.
(That means no cocaine, no meth unless some was in a pressed pill, no marijuana, no opiates, no benzodiazepines, no inhalants, no Dissociatives, no deliriants)

When I was regularly using MDMA, I felt the most well adjusted probably of my entire lifetime.

To be honest, I believe that not using alcohol was probably a major contributor to my feeling of well-being and lack of depression while taking MDMA, although the afterglow really really helped.

And for full disclosure, I can't tolerate marijuana or THC it is stimulating and I don't like it at all, I very sparingly use any stimulants, benzodiazepine use was for alcohol withdrawal and when I was prescribed SSRIs because the doctors were afraid the benzos would make me depressed. They sucked.
