Heaven forbid actually using an existing drug to effectively treat a disorder! ;)
They wouldn't be able to patent it!

If they did use an existing drug to treat a disorder, obviously it wouldnt be the same exact chemical structure, (side effects etc... ) but what if they modified an MD** based substance which was able to cure a disorder would they still be able to patent it?

^^^ If it was a different chemical structure that is previously unknown, then yes they could patent it.

I think they can even patent a known chemical as long as the use for it is unique, but I could be wrong on that part (say a research chemical that has no studied use...).

This was posted a couple of months ago... I'll merge it with the existing thread.

Drugs with "similiar chemical attributes"?

What, people with Parkinson's are too good for my pharmaceutical meth? Geez.

When did neurologists become pharmaceutical elitists? They're the only reasons why barbituates are still sold to pharmacies.

I have to see a neurologist now and he prescribers me barbituates on top of benzos. I think sometimes he knows I'm just wasted all the time.8)
