Amphetamines & buprenorphine - supression of prolactin through dopamine release

::sigh:: jeez i wish i would've know this 4 months ago, and the docs hadn't been so passive about it. so i'm searching donors & have formula for the meantime, but am a bit worried about long-term effects now. she's perfectly on track for development so far but i'm aware the effects could be waaay more far reaching than anything we'd see for years. but i'm wondering, if there is some long term damage, in what ways would it manifest? or is it too broad to even guess at? just general cognitive impairment, or being slow, or something else?

then again, maybe i don't want to know if there's nothing i can do about it. just sign me up for the Worst Mother Evar award.

lets be honest your not battering or starving your child so chill

you can do nothing about the past but you can change the future so dont look back, just move forward. and as for doctors dont take their word on everything, they tend to know a small amount about a lot of things but unless they are a specialist i would take what they say with a pinch of salt.

you are a good mother as you care about your child and thats what is important-look forward and things will go well

I'd just like to echo what the last few posters have said. The fact that you're here searching for more information on how to better care for your child speaks a lot in itself. Just think of this, you're here trying to educate yourself better so that you can provide the best possible care for your child. How many mothers in your situation can say that much?

That being said I think you should take everything you learn here back to your doctor and raise your concerns with him. We are by and large well meaning and well educated, but that's no substitute for the kind of care your doctor will provide in the long run, so I hope you work together with him through all of this. But again, you're doing a great job keeping yourself educated and doing everything you can for your child, I have a lot of respect for that.
