amazing new algae based drug for alzheimers?

when i read this, i couldnt believe it because there has not been any new approved alzheimers drug for many years now. and this one is based off algae?? now im very suspicious. i have to investigate this further and the only way to do so is by using good staff with good understand of how those compounds really work. here is the article i found; https://www.pmlive.com/pharma_news/..._algae-based_drug_for_alzheimers_drug_1315192
The compound is sodium oligomannurarate. Something I have never heard of before. And it happens to come out of "some" edible brown algae?

this got me motivated to find out WTF is this brown algae extract; "Oligomannate, which consists of marine brown algae extract, is the first new Alzheimer’s drug to receive regulatory approval globally in 17 years"
Well, what the hell is it?? and why is this compound not in any literature before it suddenly comes up out of nowhere in dozen of articles??

It's a polysaccharide, technically an alginate, of linked sodium mannuronate molecules, and apparently works by helping adjust the balance of good/bad bacteria in the gut, rather than any direct activity in the brain.
