I'm 22 yrs old Male and I'in a very bad place at the moment. I get depressed very often, and it is making functioning in life very difficult. I now hate socializing.

I used maybe 10-15 times. The last time I used was 9 months ago. I would get very bad come-downs which is why I stopped, and also cognitively I think it took its toll.

Also since about November '13 I have been experiencing low libido issues and impotency. I have gotten my hormones tested and they all turned out fine. My testosterone was 561. My libido seems to come and go every few weeks. But now it takes longer and longer for it to come back. These issues only seemed to come about when I started MDMA.

Could the depression and low libido be caused due to MDMA? We live in a very sexualized world, and so I feel quite disconnected. I desperately want my libido back - I still remember what it was like when I was a teenager. As a result, and I'm ashamed to say it, I have had many suicidal thoughts over the past few weeks.

Life...ain't the greatest

I wouldn't say MDMA caused it, but at the end of the day I'm not a doctor. It's out your system. Maybe you miss the days where you did do it? And the social aspect of it. People just lose their feelings towards socialising though, it's been differen for me. I used to hate going out when I was younger (18-20), I then went to Uni and that all changed. To this day I'm still going to all the raves I can at 24.. Maybe that'll change soon though.

In terms of sexuality, I guess you can also lose that too. Sometimes males just can't be bothered, girls always seems to think that's all we want. As far as I'm aware, if you want to replenish that, you can get medication for it? (You can in the UK anyway). Hope you feel better soon mate :)

Don't worry, I've no doubt you'll be fine. If you take too much mandy the the ol' receptors can get a bit frazzled, which might account for your low mood. They'll recover though, fear not.

10 - 15 times? Unless you are taking grams at a time, that's not what I would consider much. I took mandy, MDA and a galaxy of different legal alternatives for about 18 years. We're talking hundreds of pills down the hatch. Add into that lots of nights munching grams of crystal when it was available.

At times, it made me feel pretty grim in the aftermath, just like yourself. But eventually the urge to munch pills like Pacman waned, about 5 years ago. The only lasting side effect I've noted is that I've messed up my lexicon a bit. The simplest of words often elude me in conversation, which can be annoying. Other than that I think I'm fine.

Don't over do it, and try not to worry yourself. :)

Iamnobodi - depression plays a huge part in the level your libido. If you're under constant stress and frequently depressed, it's very possibly taking a toll on your libido. While it can take a while for the body to heal from MDMA, it doesn't seem like you've done so much that it would be having this kind of lasting effect. If you do feel it's the MDMA, take a break from it for a while. I think your biggest priority should trying to figure out why you're feeling so down and dealing with that. I bet once you start improving there your libido begins to come back. Good luck!

The only problem I've seen from many years of MDMA use is that it showed me how I think reality ought to feel. That's where my depression comes from. You can't stay there and there are diminishing returns from the use.:(

It could be some sort of weird effect that is occurring due to the having over-activated certain receptors in your brain, but with you having only used MDMA 10-15 times, I'd be reluctant to believe that is the cause of your current issues. I know that many of my mental issues started to become more prevalent in my life between the ages of 18 and 25, so it may just be that this is a coincidence, an issue of timing rather than something that was directly caused by your drug use. Especially with you saying that you have abstained from using for 9 months, as that is quite a long time, although some studies have shown that it can take upwards of 18 months for your brain activity to return to mostly normal levels after discontinuing any drug use.
