Am I being watched?

Some of you people are smoking way too much pot, or meth, or both. First of all, you need to keep in mind that the government is composed of people, a finite and small number of people compared with a huge population. Even if they wanted to keep such an extensive record on every single individual, they simply do not have the resources to accomplish that. Now I'm not saying that there are not individuals within governing bodies who would like to see this happen. Or that you shouldn't be worried about the possibilities. Britain, in particular seem adept at giving away their privacy rights. Also, China has been taking some seriously unnerving steps in this direction, see link,

For those of you too lazy to read the article, it's basically about a test city they are building with CCTV cameras set up at regular intervals like lampposts, all connected to a computer network with advanced facial recognition software.

These things can be worrying, as can the way that people store more and more of their online information with a single source, such as Google. All a legal body would need would be a single subpoena and they would have access to basically everything you've done on a computer. Hell, this is an actual quote from one of the founders of Google.

So to answer your question. It's like others here have said. Unless you are doing something of substantial illegality, such as manufacture or mass distribution of narcotics, it is almost impossible to think that you would be under surveillance. Even if you are, it is still something like a 1/100,000 chance. Basically I advise you to lay off of the chemicals, take a breath, and more accurately assess the world you live in.
 
This one time I scored a nickel bag in a parking lot some old man was like looking at me and my car and typing in his phone. They spending so much money on "national security" "citizen observe & report" etc. This Guy looked like he was "reporting suspicious activity" LOL. No BS I was totally sober too - no weed or Stimson - nothing at all!

Your activities could very well be logged in some "security" database but I know for a fact if you do something illegal the cops will try to prosecute you. Even though people say the odds are slim, it happens its best just to keep your nose clean and be an end user at least the chances of getting heat / watched are almost 0. I once saw on the TV show COPS a black UC officer dressed like a black crack dealer sold to some white Guy and they busted his ass. Total entrapment! The cops will get you for anything they can given the opertunity!
 
Here's a attitude i took when i was a paranoid mess a few years back and not without reason. I took the attitude that if the fuckers really wanted to nail me they would so why not continue what i was doing which was hardly enough to attract attention.

I would say stop any illegal activity beyond just being a buyer. If for no other reason then to put your mind at ease.
 
OP: based on what you have said I would advise you to watch The Squeeze which plays on MSNBC, and is based on the Chicago Sheriff's Police Confidential Informant Unit iirc.

As far as what you put in your post: it is probably unlikely that you are being watched based on the level of activity you claim to participate in.

However, as others have mentioned, you had better watch your ass as far as facilitating transactions because if you bring the shit to a Confidential Informant you will most likely be charged with some sort of trafficking offense and then the police will lean on you to give up your supplier. If you don't rollover, they don't care, they will be ALMOST as happy to see you sent to jail if it is possible (one less "fucker" on the streets for them to deal with = my opinion of the way they look at it).

Edit* After I posted I read over it again and decided I better say that I am not trying to be some kind of fear mongerer. My response is based on the fact that I have been privy to a situation that definitely warrants being careful in terms of trafficking drugs/facilitating a purchase (both of which are the same to a NARC).

I've had a few "friends"/shiesty individuals who know dude man call me and ask to set something up. But I call dudeman up and hes like DO NOT talk to these bitches, they police. I mean the dopeman/source has never had any problems with me, im just wondering what these kids have done to get cut off like that, it seriously sketches me out. thats why ill always double check with the source. I mean I dont give a shit if im moving weight or get caught with a point, Im going to jail with a felony either way. and thats something id like to avoid.

If they are recently arrested and asking you to connect them for drugs is a big red flag.

People get busted all the time simply because they hooked up a "friend" who needs charges dropped.

Anyone could be a snitch because unless you follow them 24/7 there's a chance they've been busted.

The best way to avoid problems is to be an end user, and avoid sourcing people as its considered dealing.

Lookup Ronald and misty Cummings... they initially made national headlines for a child disappearance and I think I read they got 15-20 years for JUST for "sourcing" an undercover some oxy! 8o

Just saying if you source drugs you risk getting watched or busted. No way around it.

There is not really any surefire way to do this. You can take precautions, but you can never be sure. The best way to stay out of trouble is to only be an end user as multiple people have mentioned.

A known (to you) dealer working for the police and selling to you so that the police can arrest you = not likely to happen.
A fellow user who you serve regularly but has been recently busted and sells you out to save their ass = 50/50 chance every time you facilitate.

Best way to look at it is as a game. The drugs are always being sold and the police are always out to catch the people selling them. You might play this game your entire life and never lose, or (more than likely) you will win some and lose some. The question is: are you willing to play the game even if it means you may lose and end up with legal troubles/stint in jail? Research the laws in your area and find out what kind of time you are looking at if you get arrested. At least then you will be making an informed decision about what you are doing.

I have watched a bunch of episodes of The Squeeze and seen multiple instances where the police caught a drug user with a personal amount of drugs, and they don't even arrest them. They tell the person "give me your supplier and you walk as soon as he is in custody for conducting a transaction with you. You get to go home tonight. If you don't your going to jail for a felony." etc. etc.. Now of course there are some people who wind up in jail before they make the decision to snitch and they cooperate for consideration at sentencing, but there is no way to tell.

Multiple organizations are physically capable of doing this to varying degrees, and there are arrangements in place to share/exchange information between a good number of them; coordination has been improving, but is still far from perfect. A good number, likely a majority of these organizations have the legal authority to do this, and of those who aren't specifically legally authorized, the majority of them are nonetheless connected and therefore protected from the vast majority of actions you could attempt.

This thread is more than borderline ridiculous. Caterva, could you please cite some sources, or at least give an example of an organization which would have the resources and monetary incentive to do a broad monitoring, and beyond that, storage of data on 'essentially everything'. If this were even technologically possible, how could the investment required ever make an even remotely profitable return.

People, and drug users in particular it seems, have an overwhelming tendency to romanticize the powers of their governing bodies. Speaking from the viewpoint of the USA, are we really to expect that a group of people who are rotated out of their positions every four years, whose budgetary deficit is 3.7 Trillion dollars, who are unable to effectively operate any operation, small, large or epic, are a group of people with a coordinated system of surveillance on over 300,000,000 individuals, of who the vast majority lead lives of which the surveillance would be monotonous to a degree that would drive the organization's seemingly endless droves of employees to suicidal boredom.

There are many basic, common sense precautions you could, or rather should have been taking all along, but this is not the "how to not get bagged thread"; one thing that might help on that front would be to stop committing crimes on an everyday basis, I've heard some people have had success with this one.

My question is, what makes you so special? What did you do to make you get someone's personal attention, and keep it? Yes, there are some very impressive surveillance capabilities in, on, and around our planet- but they aren't perfect, omnipotent, or unlimited. You see, there around seven billion fucking people out there, and a lot of them could appear to be involved in some criminal or otherwise "sensitive" activities to one degree or another; maybe even a billion of them.

Now, there are different degrees of criminality, just as there are different degrees of surveillance- and there is almost always a direct correlation between the two. The larger an operator they think you are, the nature of your activities, the amount of media attention your actions are generating, the higher a priority you become, meaning they really want to take you down and will allocate the resources/manpower deemed necessary in order to accomplish that, such as round the clock surveillance.

Now, a lot of the truly impressive capabilities are focused on flashpoints with potential international repercussions; we're talking wars, intelligence operations, financial/economic world infrastructure, "national security", etc. So unless you're tangled up in something like that, you get covered by the leftovers- still really impressive coverage, but don't expect them to reposition any satellites on account of you. Of course, there are many different reasons for ongoing surveillance, but the motivations are usually simple- either they want information, or they want you out of the picture (dead/imprisoned). In reality, they want both, eg. info to build a solid case that could put, and keep you in prison for a decent stretch; potential leverage to try to force your cooperation, both carrot and stick, and if they play it right, they can often not only get you, but they can get the person above you as well, and just keep repeating the process.

You see, a lot of the time they're just fishing, which is an unfortunately accurate analogy in the sense that fishing is a lot more successful when they're using live bait. Look, I don't know what size fish you are and I don't particularly want to; you might be that one specific monster trophy bass that they really, really want, but it doesn't sound like it. Chances are, in this scenario, you're the (potential) bait, just a means to an end, a way for them to get closer to who or whatever they really want. So if you get sloppy, to the point where they can easily build a case solid, serious case against you, then you're gonna get charged with something heavy enough to get your attention, in the hope that you'll flip and cooperate in order to get yourself off the hook. Don't get it twisted tho; even though what they probably really want is your dude, truth is, if they can't get him, they'll settle for just getting you instead for now- won't get them that promotion, but if you catch a felony and do time for it, they'll take that as a consolation prize, notch on their belt, whatever.

Now, I don't know if they're "listening" to your calls, but they are being recorded and stored somewhere; you wouldn't be talking about a phone registered in your name, or the equivalent (links back to your address, bank account/credit card, anything even remotely like that, or past its 90 day service life, would you? Are they reading your email and personal messages online? I don't know, that depends; how solid is your set-up? Latest patches for your software, properly configured internet&history settings, antivirus, firewall, proxies/vpn, spoofing your mac address, securing the router commonly used, long randomly generated passphrases, authenticated encryption for your email/messenger set-up, physical protection (pre-boot password)...well, even a pretty solid set-up can be compromised by a single mistake, so lets just say that you probably shouldn't think of them as personal.

Listen: try to distance yourself from all this as much as possible. I don't actually expect you to get clean and refrain from all illegal activities (although that wouldn't be a bad idea), but you should at least minimize your exposure to/involvement in the aspects that aren't strictly necessary. Living in the trap house, publicly consorting with people who are involved in bigger things, selling, rocking a phone that you think CI's are calling up trying to get you to arrange things (toss the phone dude), using the same car, in the same area, for the same shit, with the same people? How long you think you can rock that same routine without getting popped? Look, I don't know what your deal is, whether or not those "friends" calling you up got arrested turned (have you looked into the records?); maybe dudes just paranoid, maybe there's gonna be some sealed indictments and a no-knock raid in your near future.

Either way, sounds like you're putting yourself out there unnecessarily; sit back and think about the whole risk v reward breakdown. Switch things up, whatever you can, change; lay low, man. You might not have heat on you now, but if you keep flaggin, same everything, I don't like your long term odds.

Aka, keep it fresh or be able to claim insanity. You're better off keeping it fresh, and even better refraining from all illegal activities.

As for getting back on topic... Is the OP being watched? I'm still going with a definite NO. Even if information observation and collection technology is advancing rapidly, and it certainly is (see my article posted on such technologies being tested in China, technologies designed by United States firms), there are still massive resources needed to coordinate with local agencies and then allocate actual manpower to someone that for all we know is buying twenty bucks of meth in a Wal-Mart parking lot.
 
...and to show that I am not in complete denial about the capabilities of police surveillance, I will tell a story. This happened about four years ago to a friend of mine. And yes it was a friend of mine and not me. Actually I would hardly call him a friend, more like a friend of friends, an acquaintance. Anyway, this guy was dealing marijuana in quantity, and by quantity I mean that when he got busted he had something like 70 lbs stored in various locations, and something like 20 just chilling out in the back of his car in a duffel bag. If him driving around with 20 lbs of pot for no reason doesn't point out that he wasn't too bright, just trust me on it. Definitely not a total idiot, but certainly charmed by that certain braggadocio of invincibility that tends to come over people like this. Or maybe it's that people who do these things need to have that type of personality, just to stay sane while keeping up the life that they live. I don't know, not important.

Anyway, on back on track, the guy is simply driving on a freeway one night. There are virtually no cars and then, seemingly out of nowhere, he is not only be pulled over, but surrounded by a huge motorcade of law enforcement vehicles, city, state, and even the DEA. Basically it was an every-paranoid-drug-user's worst nightmare situation. Further into the case it was found that they had been monitoring him for some time, several weeks at least, but possibly even months. This monitoring ranged from his phone calls to actual physical observation.

Three points you should take away from this,

a) Don't do anything that he did.

b) These are the people that law enforcement is looking for, and these are the people who have legitimate reason to worry that time and money is being spent on their surveillance.

c) Seriously chill out OP, and same to all the others who think the CIA are the ones in that SUV across the street.
 
The thing that should worry every hustling drug user is the situation where one of your ''friends'' gets busted the cops tell em 3 and you go free. They then wear a wire buy a nickel sack from you and bam your charged with distribution even though your not really a drug dealer. The movie Go illistrated the situation quite nicely for anyone who has seen it.
