Allergic to weed/bong water??

Last few times ive hit the bong Ive had a bad (allergic) reaction on my lips. They swell up immediately and then become dry and cracked for the next week or two.
This has only started happening the last 3 or 4 times Ive smoked... could I have developed a reaction to the bong water or what??
help please, I dont want to even use a bong anymore because the discomfort of dry lips etc isnt worth getting high.
What do i do?????? :(
 
How far apart were those 3 or 4 times? Could it have been the specific type of bud maybe? I feel like bacteria is the culprit...maybe try popping a benadryl before you smoke next time as a temporary solution? Being unable to take comfy bong rips sucks I'm sure =(
 
It's highly unlikely that your mouth gets in contact with the water in the bong, unless you are doing something wrong, which I doubt you are. However, I noticed that once I had penycilin growing on the main body of my hookak (not a bong) where the rubber bit meets the metal inside the vase. That caused me to cough and the smoke hurt my lungs terribly, also my lips were dry and cracked. I only noticed the nasty thing growing there after having a close look, as it was only very little. Thankfully, I only used my pipe like that twice. So have a look, even if you don't see anything, make sure you clean it well.
 
I've heard rumors about being allergic to weed. It might just be that your lips are very sensitive. Try smoking something else (tea is always fun) out of your bong, that way you can know if it's your bong or not. Also you might want to try smoking out of a different piece and see if you get the same reaction.
 
yeah if its just "bongs" in particular it has to be your lips. i say that because of the way smoke surrounds your lips while taking a bong rip.

try using pipes/joints without letting the smoke touch your lips.
