New Alien 5 information has been released, and direction Neill Bloomkamp has revealed that in the film the Xenomorph will find itself in a south African ghetto and that robots will be deployed by the government to fight against it. I for one am totally psyched about this film, and even more so after this new announcement. Who knew that this is the direction that Bloomkamp would take? Anyone have any thoughts, anyone else as excited as me? :D

As someone who's only seen Elysium (which I love, btw), I can only be cautiously optimistic. Between this and his plans to co-produce The Leviathan, he seems awfully eager to make himself the next James Cameron.

That said, I could tell Blomkamp was an xenomorph fanboy from the start. Note that not only does the Raven from Elysium look like the dropship from Aliens, but two of Kruger's assistants are named after Colonial Marines (Drake and Crowe).

^ do yourself a favor and see District 9 - fanfuckingtastic sci-fi from this director

I'm excited to see him do the new Aliens, perhaps they will come out with a sequel that will finally do the first 2 films justice

if HR Giger has a lot to do with this film then I am sold

Highly anticipating this.

Elysium is his worst film... (I didn't like it very much.)
Check out District 9 (as axl already said) & Chappie (although, I think I'm alone in thinking this is much better than Ex Machina).

There aren't many directors who only make science fiction films, so I I understand the comparison to the early stages of Cameron's career.
But, Blomkamp's films are more ambitious (in terms of social commentary and subtext).
They're not that similar, really.

District 9 is an absolutely amazing science-fiction film.
Nothing in James Cameron's entire filmography compares.
