I heard somewhere once
when the sun rises a new day begins . . .
But what if you are one of those who never went to sleep?
One who stayed awake till dawn?
I was not alseep when I heard the alarm clock crow,
Its cackle merely reminder of what I already knew
Surely this condition is not endured in solitude . . .
[Queen maab cannot visit all]
To us . . .
The denizens of the night
The inhabitants of other’s dreams
The lonely and the few
Take comfort:
You are not alone.
Where are you tonight
And who were you with?
[here where present and past tense collide . . .]
In these hours
that only the intrepid withstand
we bunker up
and issue our demands
Faint and hollow
We need not wait for tomorrow . . .
Half a world
Or half an hour
The distances traversed
With only our power
Yeild no comfort, these
Dreams which Ferment and sour
So this morning I’ll return
To a bed with no partner
Having reached my conclusion
I dare not go farther.
[When did my albatross grow so heavy?]

Half a world
Or half an hour
The distances traversed
With only our power
Yeild no comfort, these
Dreams which Ferment and sour
you have such a way with words :)
speaking for the viewpoint of a girl who almost NEVER sleeps, i can honestly say, i feel ya on this one.

Queen maab may not visit us in our dreams as she does those who are laying, prone to her power. But we know her, oh how we know her and her games, my dear Nietzche. This is my favorite of all I have seen of your writing dear, certainly in part because you are speaking to the world and I am included in your description. ;) But also because it seems you are mastering the difficult combination of beauty in words and a mastery of words. They are two different beings, don't forget. :)
