I am very interested in substances and activities which inhibit age and combat damage caused by medicinal and recreational drug intake.

I think its a good idea to start a list of healthy activities and nutritional supplements which inhibit age (I do not wish to live a long life, but instead preserve my youth).

I love Kombucha, Royal Jelly, Bee Pollen, Acai, Cacao....

Solitary walks in the woods are one of my favorite activities. I can not wait until spring! <3

Perfect age inhibitor = abstinence from drugs.
Ahh, sorry. Couldn't resist.

I'm a big fan of milk thistle and good, GOOD quality green tea.

Sex feels like it does a lot of good as well.

On the subject of milk thistle, I love my booze and I definitely feel that the milk thistle is a useful supplement. I take it most days - particularly before and after drinking. If I run out and get a bit boozed, I find my hangovers are much worse and take me alot longer to recover. That said, there still doesn't seem to be alot of hard evidence to suggest that milk thistle works (some studies say it is fantastic, but there just hasn't been enough studies done overall) - I would say that it does, but I am prepared to accept that it could be a placebo.

Organic Bee Pollen..yum. Good quality sleep and exercise.

mrjackjones..maybe you'd be interested in the 5 Tibetan Rites. I've been doing it for a year now, and am up to 21 reps. It has done me a world of good and I cant imagine not doing it daily.

Check out the thread on it here

A healthy balanced diet
Regular excercise(non impact is best)
Avoiding more sun than you actually need(a tan is not good)

Avoid the sun!

I'm 33 and can't get a drink without being carded. I also use sun screen moisturizer (oil of olay, so not even expensive stuff) every day if I go out. I haven't been using it to jog outside, but I used to put it on every day before I went to work.

I also take a multivitamin every day and use toner every day.

I'm on and off taking flaxseed oil, but I try to always take 2 teaspoons a day.

I'm on and off with exercise too. This past year is the longest I've gone without walking/running for at least a mile 3-4 times a week.

No cigarettes! Ever seen some of those women who smoke a pack a day and drink tons of coffee every day for yearrrrrs? They are gross.

Also, a lot of it is in the genes. Some people just have awesome genes for anti-aging like Juliette Dreyfuss (sp?).

Gross is a huge understatement.

MMM, damn she is HOT. Everything about her insanely turns me on.

this woman?

she's one of the hottest women I've ever seen.

For me, there's no one food/activity that can keep you young. It's all about the lifestyle.

Just a good and varied diet with a lot of colorful vegetables, fruit.
Keep hydrated.
Don't use chemicals on your skin.
Sleep and wake up early.
Avoid cigs.
Get a fair amount of sun every morning. I know it's not good to bake under the sun but people shouldn't be cooped up hiding from it every day. Being under the sun gives vitamins and improves circulation.
Keep good company, funny friends.
Laugh!

-Focus on your breath, it brings life giving oxygen to your body.
-Eat whole foods, especially fruits and vegetables. Get as many calories as possible from these anti-oxident/phytochemical rich foods.
-Don't use tobacco!
-Remain free.

Avoid the sun!
Something feels off about that piece of advice to me...

Acupuncture maybe? The two acupuncturists I've had both were women who looked like teenagers (in a very vibrant, happy way) but upon closer inspection, had the beginnings of smile wrinkles that indicated that they were in their thirties.

to the OP: I second that anticipation for Spring and solitary walks in the woods... Such a necessary experience!

I don't know, I've seen a lot of people who are really heavy into drugs who look like they are frozen in time in terms of looks.

I mean, have you seen Robert Downy, Jr. lately?

Researchers have been investigating Quercetin recently, and it mice studies it was shown to increase the number of mitochondria 30% in the muscles and brain after a week of being given the drug. It says that human studies have also been completed, and the results should be available sometime this year, but aren't out yet. Might wanna keep your eye on that one.

all my yoga teachers tell me headstands make you feel and look younger......
something about being upside down and the blood flow circulation to your brain. just remember to stand normal after for a few minutes. true

Vitamin E and Vitamin C are great. Oxygen too. I would like a oxygen tank with breathing equiptment for when I'm not in nature. Its so refreshing!

the question is, will you choose the light side or the dark side?

If it increases the number of mitochondria then that would speed up aging as mitochondria are where metabolism happens.

eat foods that contain L-Arginine such as nuts, fish, eggs, meat, milk etc.

why?

Because L-Arginine releases growth hormones into the body and we all know that growth hormone is the best thing when it comes to anti-aging.
