When are the best times to use Magnesium/DXM (in relation to the adderall dosing) in order to get the most out of their NMDA receptor-antagonizing properties? I realize that taking a break is the best/healthiest way to reduce tolerance, but would taking the DXM/Mag (not considering it's health benefits) be worth it during one? Any insight would be appreciated.
And if anyone has some time to kill and is willing to sort out my (mis)understanding of what causes adderall tolerance then that'd be great.
From what I understand, amphetamines increase the concentration of calcium ions which then pass through the NMDA receptors and into the neurons, causing tolerance. I believe that I read somewhere that they make it harder for the (serotonin, dopamine, etc?) neurotransmitters to connect to their respective receptors by binding to it first. NMDA receptor antagonists deactivate the NMDA receptors, reducing the flow of calcium ions into the neurons, and allowing the neurotransmitters to better do their job.
Now some questions regarding all that:
Do amphetamines actually increase the production of calcium ions, or does its vasoconstrictive properties just cause them to be squeezed/concentrated towards the NMDA receptors (like a tube of toothpaste)? If it's the latter, then would taking aspirin help prevent tolerance? Does this mean that taking a lot of calcium with amphetamines is bad, or is calcium and its ions unrelated? Thoughts on 5-HTP? I've read that it causes EMS
