Adderall psychosis?

A relative of mine seems to be having some trouble. My family seems to think he has just gone crazy, but upon further investigation I found out that he has admitted he has been taking adderall.

He has been having paranoid delusions; thinks there is some kind of conspiracy against him and everyone is involved, hence the reason he won't answer his phone or talk or listen to anyone. When his mother visited him she reported that his nose was red too.

This seems to have been going on for a while, I would guess a year or two. He has already lost his job, wife and children because of it. To me it sounds like he's suffering from an addiction to adderall or maybe meth, the delusions coming with excessive use. He is an older guy too, probably late 30's or early 40's.

What do you guys think? Does my assessment seem correct? If so, what is the best way to go about helping him not continue to harm himself? Keep in mind that he won't listen to anyone, answer his phone, and he lives rather far away from family.

I really appreciate your opinions and advice, not to mention I'm glad to have finally joined this great community after lurking for so long.

He may be experiencing this due to insomnia caused by the adderall. Adderall is an amphetamine, and I know that there are many cases of methamphetamine induced psychosis, so I see no reason why the mixed amphetamine salts (adderall) could not cause this.

You may want to look up methamphetamine psychosis to get more info.
