Acute benzo and alcohol withdraw vs eps and parkinsonsism

Sounds more like EPS to me, you mentioned uncontrolled head movements, grimacing... Though I get the impression you weren't taking the loxapine for long, but I guess some people are more susceptible.

Benzos probably cause cognitive defecits, which would explain that part.

^ I agree.

entheo, look up the different types of tremors. There's a big difference between the EPS type tremor and spasms, benzo/ alcohol withdrawal tremor, and essential tremor. There are videos of all that you can watch.

Pegasus- could you please provide me with some resources to help me differentiate between the different types of movement disorders? I find that self diagnosis isnt very helpful to me without any legitimate reference. I dont have another appointment with my doctor for about a month and i would like to gather as much information as possible.

^^ could i possibly use propranolol to help taper off of my clonazepam?

From what i can tell, my symptoms are more closely related to a mild-moderate case of parkinsonsism and dystonia. Most of the episodes are in my hands and neck/head, although my thighs are greatly affected at the same frequency.
Its very disheartening, especially in social and professionam settings. Im afraid to engage in anything close to romance now for fear that i will be judged and embarassed. I do have a family history of movement disorders, but they have always been associated with schizophrenia and other forms of psychosis.
I dont know what to do, i would love to be completely sober but im afraid of dealing with this permanetly.

How much alcohol are you drinking at a time? What dosage of clonazepam are you taking? How many times a day?

The symptoms you're describing sound like side-effects of typical anti-psychotics (Loxapine). However when you're taking multiple GABA-related drugs it's very difficult to discern what's causing what. I agree - stop drinking or taper the drinking first. Then slowly taper the clonazepam. Use a half a benedryl for nights you can't sleep, or melatonin.

I use propranolol for anxiety; for me it's a godsend. However I highly doubt it is powerful enough to even remotely control GABA-induced seizures.

I'm pretty much in the same spot as you, been using benzo's for several years, drinking while on them as well. Luckily I haven't experienced any ill effects (other than long-term memory issues) but I know they're just around the corner. I would be extremely careful with Kratom - it's more of a stimulant than a sedative unless you take a lot, and even then it's very new and seizures or almost-seizures are not something to play around with. Last thing you want is a panic attack + kratom leading to a full blown seizure.

Also, per usual I highly recommend good exercise and diet as these will help your body (a little) in both coping with the tapering and giving you a "natural" high.

Good luck!

Well ive completely stopped drinking although im still using 4 mg clonazepam, 750 carisoprodal/day along with kratom. I feel like ive basically gone through the most acute states of alcohol w/d but my eps hasnt subsides.
If it is related to BZD/GABAergic abuse, what kind of time line am i looking at until my symptoms become less pronounced?
