i've never done it but would like to try it... i've checked on erowid etc for the facts but talking to friends i get very different opinions on how to best use acid... for some, it's a very intense, deep, personal journey involving self-discovery and spiritual inspirations... for others it's a party drug taken in clubs for the trippy visuals and weird and fun ideas and conversations etc.
what do you think?

doing acid is like working with 2 lesbians at a florists. On quiet days you go into the cool-room and fuck each other stupid with a 10 inch dildo called "brad".

Acid is the most amazing drug in a whole new way. It is good that you took the time to post here as the best acid trips are when the user is seeking the chemical. This will give you time to mentally prepare for the trip. When I have done this my experience has never been negative. Unless you are a hippy/raver I suggest sucking on you're paper after lunch as I tend not to be very hungry during the experience & the come-up wont be as flat out. It is definately recommended that you trip with at least one friend, preferably more becasue then you will have others that understand the fucked-up revelations you come out with.

...search for a report by Pyro in Words, and/or Discussion....good stuff to candy your mind with before you fry..

it kind of seperates the good and the bad and if you can you should choose the good.

A friend of mine summed it up best--"acid can be whatever you want it to be." It's such an ambiguous substance that it would be impossible to say what it's "going" to do to you. About the only thing anyone could say was what it did to them and what it usually does to everyone else...but if you read any of Erowid's "LSD experiences" you'll find that all the stories are *way* different from each other. So most people just generally stick to the general "you'll probably start seeing stuff that isn't there, and you might experience the sensation of synaesthesia (hearing colors, seeing sounds, etc)." So the only thing anyone can tell you to prepare you is prepare for the unexpected.

Have you ever had a dream that you were completely convinced was 100% real, only to be dissapointed when you woke up?
That's what acid is like, except it *is* real.

"when you're tripping, everything is... different" --- said by a friend while he was tripping
acid's amazing... as long as you're in a good mood and a good setting you'll have a great time.

It is very overated. What you picture it is prolly more extreme then the actual results. Try 1-2 paper hits. That will be a good test run. You won't have as much visuals the first time (but it does react differently to everyone so its hard to say) but you should expect to feel kinda confused as far a thoughts. Then over time , you can take a real dose such as 5 hits or more to see what it is really about.
*** A good way to explain acid visuals is this: Did you ever look at the clouds in the sky with a friend.etc and see different shapes in them (ie elephants . faces.etc)
Acid visuals is very close to that because you see ramdom shapes and designs in everythig you look at. (walls , floor)
There are no suprises left in acid for me and I hate having flashbacks everytime I smoke nuggets.

No tears please , its a waste of good suffering...

Before you decide to take LSD, make sure you are aware of your setting and the people you are about to do it with. I'm telling you, if just ONE THING about those make you feel uncomfortable, don't do the drug. You might regret it, so be especially careful because it is your first time. Have fun. . .

I try to consider everything, but everything is not a considerable amount.

"There are no suprises left in acid for me"
I would say that is probably a dangerous comment to make with acid. I've done acid alot, and I think I had developed a pretty good handle on what it can throw you. But the scary/dangerous/fun/exciting thing about LSD is that it can most definately throw you a cruve ball that you would have never expected in a million years and seriously give you one hell of a bad trip (or great one leading towards extacy - not MDMA).
I would say LSD can be anything you want it to be. It can mimic any drug you could possilbe take. It's very versitile, very dynamic and very unpredictable. I think one thing to remember with LSD is to never assume you've tamed LSD, otherwise it could end up taming the shit out of you.

LSD launched a powerful drug movement and touched an entire generation. I honestly feel like it is the ONE drug that you really can't under estimate. It is a powerful, encompassing, fulfilling yet highly intelligent high like few others. It's character and personality are literally as dificult to convey as would be our own.
LSD is a mirror to see your very own soul... you will be forced to deal with yourself and every little iota of your being. It can cradle you like a child and playfully entertain you just as easily as it can grab you visciously by the neck and drown you in your own misery. Do not approach this drug lightly - it is one of the great ones. I have had a lot of experience with acid now, and as much as I have become comfortable with the trip, never have I ever left one without a deep sense of awe and amazement.
LSD can truly be either the agony or the ecstacy. Approach it with respect, intelligence, a happy heart, and a sharp mind - or don't approach it at all.
Goodluck!

LSD is like surfing waves in the ocean; it is best to approach softly with reverence, respect, and humility.
It is also good not to bite off more than you can chew. You can always add more, you can never take away. Give yourself 2 hours before redosing, at least.
If you go into LSD with a big ego, prepare to have it blown away.
If you're coming for the visuals, go for mushrooms or a 2C compound; LSD is far more psychological than visual (to me, at least).
LSD is best taken 4-8 hours before sunset, IMO, or 3-4 hours before sunrise. I prefer day tripping, and also enjoy splitting my trip into a day portion and night portion, and the twilight hours are the best for a good toke and visual/personal reflection.
Many people have ruined their first acid experience and have thus ruined the drug for them. It can let you cast yourself into a timeless hell from which it seems like there is no eventual end to this permanent insanity.
Or it can let you lead yourself into a heaven of unimaginable bliss. One that makes the shared MDMA high seem superficial.
The difference is in the set of the person and the setting of the environment. Get away from cars, non-tripping people, televisions, raves, parents, authorities, money.
Get away from it all, dose yourself ritually with clean liquid in an outdoors environment with a loose agenda with trusted, experienced companions, and outline some things you want to address in your soul.
Don't be afraid to discuss anything with yourself, that will only bring fear into your trip.
Fear is no-no #1; Repetitive mental loops are #2; Ego and clinging to persona is no-no #3.
I have dosed over 40 times and have experienced rebirth more than half those times. Like the figurative Phoenix rising from the ashes.
I hope you get the same results from LSD. It is not a party drug, it is a personal one. When you return to your normal headspace, then go party. Otherwise save it for yourself; it is precious........

Both Sebastians_ghost and liquid ocean are dead on, but I'd like to add one more thing:
Although it's *not* really a party drug, don't be fooled: the trip is as enjoyable as climbing a mountain; it's wonderfully hard work with great rewards for those who do it.
And beyond that, even though liquid ocean says "save it for yourself", LSD can allow chances for exploration with other people along for the ride as well.

Great replies ppl.
You're getting me all excited! Should be getting some 'Cid finally after a huuge waiting period

Only had it three times before and it was a little disapointing. Looking forward to taking a larger dose. Got some great ideas for what to do from Bluelight. Thanks guys!

wow... some fantastic replies, thanks so much, esp. sebastians_ghost and liquid ocean...
you've all inspired me and made me feel very positive, but i've gotta admit i still have some slight doubts.. the intensity of what you're describing is a bit scary... i don't know if i'm brave enough... i'm a party girl, and i love pills (ecstacy, mdma) but what you're describing seems much more _real_ i guess, with mdma you're almost guaranteed a high, it seems with acid you _may_ get a high but you make it yourself...?
i'm gonna wait a little while, cos i certainly don't want to try acid the first time at a rave, and at the moment i don't have my own place or anywhere to try it... i've read up and talked to friends and fully understand the importance of set and setting... i guess when these factors are right and i'm fully confident than i'll go for it...
oh yeah... i was thinking of trying mushrooms first... how much does this help to get a feeling for the acid experience?

The question was asked how good of a prep drug shrooms are for acid. I'd say about as good acid is for shrooms.
A lot of people say that shrooms are a more earthy, gentle trip, and even though I've only done shrooms once, I'd be inclined to agree. I wish I had taken shrooms before my first acid trip...it might have saved a lot of things from going wrong. However, the more people I talk to, the more I'm convinced that some people are just acid people, and others are just shroom people (sort of like in Pulp Fiction, the Elvis people or Beatles people). I have a friend who loves acid but couldn't stand the "earthiness" of shrooms that I love. He said it reminded him of being in the brain of a plant, which he didn't like. So I don't know if I could recommend trying one first over the other. If you have any reservations or mental blocks, they're going to cause you problems no matter which one you do first, they're probably just going to manifest differently. So your best bet is to wait until you *really* want to do it...and try not to do it at a club, and make sure you have *everything* mentally taken care of that you might stress about, because if you think you'll be able to "not worry about it" under the influence, you're probably wrong.

thanks for the comments........
i am a mushroom person, definitely, and i prefer nature to cyber.
you may feel the same, you may be the opposite, but here is a key difference between LSD and mushrooms: you can measure mushrooms reliably, they come on quicker, and you can graduate your dosage, and they last for a smaller amount of time.
So you can take baby increments and feel it as a buzz, and have an idea for what it's all about. With acid (or a large amount of mushrooms dropped at once), you might be sober one minute, then having your reality melt around you the next.
With an unknown dosage in the microgram range, it's not that user friendly. And it is hard to cultivate an acid 'buzz', you usually get the proverbial 'trip', which is a good thing to most people that like it, and to most beginners, but it is definitely not the easiest way to first experience psychedelics..........
