The real reason acid is rare in America.........If you get caugth with a sheet or more you are going to Federal Prison for 10 years perhaps longer
Although the stiff penalty for possession/distribution does deter some, it is definitely not the driving force behind the decline in acid availability. These laws (and subsequent penalties) have been on the books for much longer than the US has been experiencing this “dry spell”.
There are several factors that combined, have resulted in the current situation.
1) MAJOR bust taking 2 serious players out of the game. What they had made and what they could have made with the supplies in their possession would have set the entire country up for some time.
2) Deterioration of the supply chain. Over the years an extensive “network” developed that enabled individuals to maintain contact with each other. Certain aspects of this network have been compromised by the death of select individual(s) as well as those targeted by law enforcement.
3) New chemists and key sales people are focusing on other substances (mainly MDMA). MDMA is easier to manufacture (less complex synthesis and the greater availability of the precursors involved), has a higher profit margin, and is currently very popular.
There is acid out there just not in the quantity or availability it once was.
IMO, somewhere in the upper level of the current distribution system a few people have become greedy. These people are diluting and limiting the supply so as to drive up the demand as well as increase their profits.
