Sorry, I've been reading a lot of 16th and 17th Century sonnets lately. I guess the style kind of rubs off on you after a while.
Aghast, At last my sunken eyes do see.
One life that lived and loved and died from me.
My mind once changed from fright to flight, but why,
When eyes did meet and sense did feel your cry,
Did mind let go to heart and reason unto thee?
The voices speak their sordid useless sigh,
And from your eyes my ears heard tears to try.
My heart is here, my head aloft with thee.
But why I ask does reason yield to fate?
The hand is dealt, one card upon its face.
Without to look I know there lies the bait
That gamblers bet on, sure there lies the ace.
Too 'fraid to flip the card, afraid of fate's decision.
Whatever under there lies, there's a reason it was given.
