k, i've been told that the time 4:20 is the national time to smoke pot or something. One thing i'm curious about is how did this originate??
 
Thar wer these cool guys @ Harvard who met up 2 smoke a doob at 4:20 b'tween classes back in the 60's freedom of sp3ech teachers leave them kids alone me learn fine stoned ILL TEACH YOU TO TRY AND GIVE ME AN IVY LEAGUE EDUCATION
 
There ARE many mythes about this, i don't know which is true though,one i heard was:
Remember that one public service announcement "Do YOU know where your kids are?" use to be shown at 4:20, but im not sure.
 
The crucial question is... does it matter?
Pot is great at any time of the day, morning, noon and night. Smoke pot whenever the hell you feel like it.
Stupid traditions and games and the like are the whole reason everyone mocks us stoners...
 
If you ever see the Wrigley's Doublemint commercial where they have the bear trap set outside the window. Look at the clock that is above the guys in the booth. It's stuck on 4:20.

ok guys...
4:20 (to my knowledge) became the biggest rationalization for pot smokers to toke because it was believed there were 420 chemicals present in marijuana. Of course that turns into many more once it turns in to smoke... anyway now we know there are at least 421 chems in pot and probably more so just remember if you're gonna pack a bowl for 420... better save one for 422 man!!!!

oh, and it's not the "national time"... I believe it's practiced in a few countries (eg: stoney nations like australia)

there are MANY myths about 4:20, I personally believe this one:
some kids at some school in sacramento or some other place in cali' used to meet up every day after school to get high. There school got out at four o'clock or so, and they'd always end up sparking up at 4:20. so, when they were at school and planning a smoking session for afterwards, they'd refer to it as "4:20" just because that's when they'd meet up. Anyway, somehow or another (i've read the greatful dead started using the term in flyers, but who knows) it "4:20" became the national trend it is today. just could've just as well been 3:50
 
No one will ever know what it means....
But it has a life of it's own now, so it means "time to get high" or "gettign high"... but it's origins are unknown, unless you ask a pothead... they will tell you it's the "police code for pot smoking in progress" ... if you ask "where?" they usually respond with "oh, L.A." ... if you want to argue you can correct them and let them know that in Los Angels County, a code 420 is denying someone access to public lands...

I think linolium is right. High Times did a big thing on this in April and they had a picture of a flyer that was handed out at Dead concerts back in the 60's. The flyer told the story of the kids in Sacramento who used to smoke after school. But who really knows? It's really all just folklore anyway.
 
it's not the police code thing. the sotry about the guys in the sixties is the true story. They dedicated a whole section in high times once to explain it. Luv to all potheads!
 
k, so now it's between the police code for posession of marijuana or some kids just happen to smoke pot at 4:20 every time... guess we'll never know.
