As to the Dems being from Mars and blue collar workers being from Venus. My point was that the Dems *do* do a lot of things to help the "working class". They just don't tell them over and over that they are doing wonderful things and the other side is the root of all evil.
I can't count the times I've heard Dem leaders say, "People will see all the good we have done and vote accordingly." Even though, time after time it's proven, NO, THEY WON'T.
It's not just the unwillingness to get slick, public relations involved while ignoring the truth.
The point of the book, Men Are From Mars And Women Are From Venus is that men interact with the women they love like they would interact with other men and vise versa, causing miscommunication.
Dems not only assume people will do research and find out who has helped them the most, they have a tendency to point out things (when they do) in a way which might come off as smug and superior. Talking to another Dem about politics, Dem number one might blithely suggest Dem number two research a certain subject that they are not informed about. Dem number two would likely take no offense and do so figuring they were having an informative debate and reaching a common conclusion.
However, when class in America rears it's ugly head and it's basically the middle managers "informing" the workers as to what to believe, things go south as to how it's received.
(Add to that the fact that many upper middle class people actually do feel themselves superior. I'm a reasonably intelligent blue collar schmoe and I have seen that irritating attitude from a significant minority of college educated people. I've taken around 15 college classes to advance over the years. Assemblers at my old job had an Associates in Elecro-Mechanical required)
So, before I get the badge of a true Democrat's pontification, (TLDR)
Dems are from Mars, the "working class" is from Venus.
